Best deal on tires

Hi RS members, I just bought some new street tires for my GT3 out of the states from treadepot.com. Check out the price difference

Toyo T1Rs
Fronts: 235/35/19s
Rears: 315/25/19s

Best retail price I could find in BC was: $2100
Wholesale price from my friend who works for Toyo Canada: $1650
Treadepot.com: $988usd + $114usd shipping = $1102.

you pay HST either way so it is a wash. Net net, anyone looking for tires, check out treadepot.com

Damn really good price on the DWS
I've been shopping around for summer wheels + tires for the last 3 weeks and can't put my finger on anything

Anyone bought maxxim wheels before? There is a set that is okay looking but I like it for the offset and it's relatively lightweight for a cheap 18x8. They are made by konig apparently? Not the best brand out there but more reputable than ebay replicas haha. Privat has some nice looking wheels too but they are way too heavy :(

Z3guy 01-20-2011 01:29 PM

^ if it fits your budget, spend a little more and get some forgestars or OZ...at least they are flowed formed forged wheels...

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-20-2011 01:42 PM

DWS is the same price as tirerack

roastpuff 01-20-2011 01:43 PM

That is some good pricing on Toyo. I'll probably pick up some R888's once my Nittos are gone.

Naw those are way out of my budget :( and I'd probably cry over curbing them, I'm trying to hunt for used OEM merc wheels. It is a shame that they don't have nicer wheels on treadepot, Don't want to order separately cause the cost to install the tires would balance out

Checked out tires for my dad's 993 he's thinking of driving it this summer. Kumho SPT are super cheap for $200 (295/30/18) not tracking the car anyways.

I think we must keep in consideration the shipping which is the most expensive of the 3 (tirerack & discount tire) Discount tire usually $5-10 more but it's worth it since they ship it free

Not sure about your size but for the 215/40/18 I was looking at it was about $13 less than tirerack

Mugen EvOlutioN 01-20-2011 02:08 PM

my size tirerack was actually $3 dollar cheaper

oh well

Jayhall 01-20-2011 03:06 PM

actually ForgeStar has quite a few people fooled and their wheels aren't truly forged in the typical sense, so a contradiction in the name itself. Just Google search it you'll see plenty of threads on this issue... here's 1 quick one for ya, don't have much time to copy n past a bunch of other ones that are out there. http://forums.5series.net/topic/99166-forgestar-wheels/

and yea man our tire prices suck bigtime compared to the US, somewhat of a poor excuse for that would be the difference in market size between Canada 30 million people to USA 300 million people. An excuse I find to be utter bullshit, I mean really it's not like we're two countries on opposite sides of the world, we fckin border each other so there's really no reason for tires to be twice the price here in most cases.
I had come across TreadDepot few months ago when I was getting my tires but ended up going with OnlineTires.com

there is a few sponsors on here though that have tire prices that are pretty damn good, only about $200 off US quotes, like DHP and Speed Syndicate

DiscountTireCo (exit 200 on I5) will match any online prices with shipping, and they will mount+balance for much cheaper than any place in Vancouver BC.

If you are running Nittos NT01s....best track tire for the money. Only slightly slower than MPSC at 1/2 the costs

Don't get the R888s, they suck, the RA1 is a more consistent and better performing R compound....plus R888s dont last long.....

Death2Theft 01-21-2011 08:11 AM

Right that's why the majority of tt gallardos are running 888's

^ are you clueless? first off Gallardos are shit track cars, that's why you rarely see Gallardos on the track. Just because the majority of gallardos owners use 888s make them good....that is laughable......ask any track guy if the R888s are any good....

TT Gallardos are good for 1/4 mile or Texas 1 mile runs...that's what they were built for.....

truong 01-21-2011 08:42 AM

too bad they don't carry yokohama, I need a set of a048's

Are you saying t1r's are better track tires than the 888's or street tires?

Obviously he is not saying about the T1R, he only mentioned about T1R in his very first post, and that's what he just bought. That's it.

He is talking about the RA1. Correct me if i am wrong hahahaha.

thank you, some RS members do not know how to read....

Although the RA1 is the older generation R compound, it is more consistent and lasts longer than the R888s.

bcrdukes 01-22-2011 06:13 PM

Their shipping charges are outrageous but reflects their location in Georgia. I just ordered a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ101s from TireRack.com

Z3guy 01-23-2011 12:41 PM

I need some new tires for my 5 series....found some Yoko S drive ones pretty cheap...has anyone tried them? .....are they a decent performance tire?
