blackberry question

noob question alert !
feel free to fail me if you give me an answer :)
could i access bbm if i bought a blackberry off someone and do not have a data plan on my sim card?
im guessing no, so what would i need to do to have access to it?

jeedee 01-30-2011 12:17 AM

You need a data plan/instant messaging plan to use BBM

PUPPY 01-30-2011 12:22 AM

thanks
could i alter a 3yr contract plan? how much would be it be for a simple addon just for bbm

check with your provider. fido?rogers? goto their site, the prices are on there, or goto the mall

Santofu 01-30-2011 12:31 AM

Social network plan cost no more than $20

you could either add it to your current contract or negotiate your current contract to add more and maybe reduce the amount you pay

PUPPY 01-30-2011 01:47 AM

^ yeah i was thinking of changing my current contract
i have a really overpriced plan that was made in a rush and i'm not looking forward to paying 3 yrs of that..
how do i view my current plan details on the rogers website?
My Plan $30 Unlimited Value w/ 1000 Messaging
My Add-ons Call Display
it only says that on my page. is that my entire plan? im pretty sure there's more to it

I know Rogers gives you 500mb for $25 a month. Dunno about other cell providers, but yes you do need data plan to BBM ppl

fido as well. +$5 for 1gb

also don't bother getting data if all you want is bbm. get their "social networking" add on thing, lets you use unlimited fb, msn, bbm, that kinda stuff. but only those things, you can't surf wherever you want and etc.

best bet is to call your provider and ask them any/all questions you have

Retentions has BB specific data plan. $15 for 50mb of data, including BBM/surfing..etc.

Are you talking about 500mb or 50mb? Cause 50mb is useless to me as I surf alot lol

Interesting plan though... So would I call in, tell them I'm cancelling, and they'll give me that plan or how would I get that?

Also, does that plan include email?

!Aznboi128 01-30-2011 06:28 PM

^ just about to say that. Cause 50mb is actually a lot for a berry unless you tether you'll need more but for just on berry use bbm fb surfing on the berry 50mb is plenty

"50 mb? That's like what...two emails?!"
So my retentions guy lol'd and gave me 150 mb. I surf quite a bit and never have gone over 100 mb.

You can try a similar approach :)

you need to get a blackberry data plan, not just a regular data plan, which includes unlimited bbm, email, and social networking sites. Should be ~$20? You need to pay more if you want data for web surfing.

dlo 01-31-2011 08:14 PM

Blackberry social networking data plans are usually 15$ btw

Tim Budong 02-01-2011 12:27 PM

Os6 browser uses more data if I'm not mistaken
If with rogers/fido
Just call retentions, u can grab a pretty sweet deal for less than 50tax in with 500mb data, incoming call, rogers/fido netwworkcalling txtting eevrything
