Up for sale or Trade is my 1972 Super Beetle. I bought it as a replacement for my old Daily, Betsy, the 83 Corolla. It's a fun car to drive, rewarding to bomb around in traffic with and lots of thumbs up from other motorists. I need to get rid of it as I can't move parts around in it, it's too nice to beat up.
It has it's quirks but it's a solid example of an unrestored bug. Super Beetles are differentiated with their large 1600cc motor and McPherson strut front assembly. Regular beetles don't change camber during stroke in their front suspensions. The Super beetle has a Porsche style front suspension, similar to that of an AE86.
Recent Brakes on all 4 corners, very reliable strong running motor with some recent wrenching. 12v system with Alternator and modern distributer conversion. 4 speed with factory Hurst Shifter option. Lots of tread left. Wipers work, and radio works alright as well. The car is turn key, just hop in and have fun cruising. Very solid underbody Pan. KYB GR2 shocks.
There is some need for elbow grease, but nothing that keeps it from being drivable. Worn out steering linkages, brakes need bleeding. Heater is a gas style, I've been told they burn very warn, but this one has been disabled. Some surface rust, but again, it's an unrestored 72 Bug. With a little bit of effort this car is worth much more. I just don't have the resources right now to do the work.
I need a vehicle I can treat like a truck, as I'm constantly moving parts around. However, I do big trips and need something small and fuel efficient. I'm open to trades.
I'm asking $1500.
