2011 BC Winter Open

The following notice is for all BCPA members and fans of powerlifting:

The 2011 BC Winter Open which takes place Sunday, February 13 in Vancouver at 1218 Cartwright Street (Performance Works at Granville Island).

I checked on their website, but i couldn't find anything. is there any cost to watch?

there is a cost to watch but it's minimal - it's usually 5 dollars.

Happening this Sunday - Looks there's going to be some good competition judging by the lifting roster. Quite a few first time lifters too so for anyone interested it would be a good show to check out. Although the event starts at 10 I would recommend coming to view around 1ish as the main guys dont lift til the afternoon

i dont follow this stuff much, but do u get tested for these events, just curious on how that plays in these comps
or is there a natty / "gear" lift section

Yes the BC Powerlifting Association is affiliated with the Canadian Powerlifting Union which falls under the umbrealla of the International Powerlifting Federation (wow that was a long sentence - lol) and all athletes are subject to drug testing. Once a person becomes a member of any of those mentioned federations, they accept that they are subject to drug testing year round. It can be anytime, doesn't necessarily have to be during competition times. They do a great job of trying to keep the sport clean
