You can try, some people have had varying levels of success by tricking Kies into thinking their model (SGH-i897 AT&T Captivate) is the Rogers one (SGH-i896 Rogers Captivate) by editing the build.prop on their phones, downloading an older version of Kies (1.5.3), and installing Microsoft .NET Framework 4.

If that doesn't work out for you, you can always flash a JL1-based rom, which is based off the Rogers update. Cognition is a fairly close-to-stock rom, Firefly is a bit heavier-themed, SimpFinity is a minimal rom, and there is a bone-stock Rogers 2.2 rom you can flash using ClockWorkMod recovery or Odin.
Here's a link to the stock Rogers 2.2 rom, flashable via Odin/CWM:

The other roms are just in the Captivate Android Development section in XDA.
Right now I'm running Paragon RC5.0, since it's on 2.2.1 and JS3 base (so I can use themes for other Galaxy S variants). My phone is an SGH-i896 Rogers Captivate, but flashing Paragon tricks my phone into thinking it's an SGH-i897 AT&T Captivate, lol.
