What is it about this car that requires a u-bilt registration?

Oh, sorry. should have clarified. The car was written off in the 90's because of theft leaving the car on blocks with all suspension and wheels stolen. they even stole the shift knob. It was deemed parts only, therefore to get it back on the road you need to do some replacement of components then get it registered.

Excellent car for a B-series or K-series swap. Maybe build a turbo d out of it, throw in some suspension and wheels too.

Remember to keep all receipts for the work done, because when you send the paperwork to ICBC they will want to see receipts to issue the BC VIN.

The car is all back together. However, the U-built title works as so:

You need to replace components on the vehicle and prove to ICBC (through receipts) that you've replaced such parts, and then after a vehicle inspection, you send the inspection report and receipts into ICBC and they send you a BC assigned VIN.

Because this car was written off as a dismantle only car, the original VIN # can never be used again.

Again, all you need is proof that you've replaced parts on the car (up to 50% of its value). If you can gather some receipts from friends or fro your old car, that would do too! Its all up to you. Or if you have a hatchback CX, DX or SI, you could use this one for its shell, or all parts, or swap paper work to fix a wrecked car that wasn't written off by ICBC, It doesn't matter to me. its up to you what you want to do with it.

Why is it a dismantle if it was only theft? In that case, it should have been a salvage (as it's salvageable). Was the frame damaged at all?

Car looks mint.

hmmm.

1. the car is all together now, can we use your receipts to purchase the parts to get it all together (suspension+wheels)?
2. aside from suspension and wheels, what other components/parts do you need receipt for?

the car looks clean overall. im interested, hence the questions above

Its not that easy. You have to provide receipts (up to 50% of the cars value). What is that to them? $3000 4000? And what if you don't have receipts or icbc rejects the ones you have?
You'll be fu--ed!

good for track use though.

let me get this straight;

1)to get it running on the streets? = "prove that 50% of the car worth has been replaced?"
2)car runs and fixed? = but need to take u-build title off?
3)what sort of list of repairs do i need on my receipt?
