im thinking all in 300$ or a little less for new customers on a 3 year since its supposed to this "super phone" i wana see how this and the iphone 4s compare against each other since my contract is up early 2012
While you're correct that it's much more phone than an iPhone4, there's only a small fraction of the market (such as us) who can actually appreciate the differences. Only that small fraction will think to pay the premium. And with that in mind, not everyone in that group would pay that for a phone (I know I wouldn't).
As for the Arc, it looks to be 100 on a 3yr plan on the website. If they had the audacity to charge more than that, there'd be a lot of SE phones sitting in their boxes :P
The majority of the people would only get this phone if its cheaper than an iphone 4, thats not including us people who actually read up on phones and the specs. Most of my friends think my galaxy s is some big piece of inferior to the iphone crap. That being said I still might go for the htc sensation cause kies blows and I still can't update my phones software. Posted via RS Mobile

Blargh, I had my fingers cross that we would finally be getting the same version as the rest of the world. Korea and Europe already have the base version with all the goodies.
Now our north american carriers want to dick around with brand differentiation. Screw that crap.
here its 2 year specific plan contract, a 55$ plan will make the phone about 220$ CAD. and you pay it monthly so 10$ more every month to pay off the hardware.
thats what majority of people do in korea. And ya to buyout the phone is around 750 cdn.
The teg2 IS a dual-core, but it's basically very late to the game since it was supposed to launch last year and hence falls behind when compared to other "new" dual-core phones. The biggest disappointment of the T2 IMO is the fact it lacks NEON support and hence won't play any high-profile h.264 encoded videos (ie, mkv rips, youtube hd rips, basically any HD video rip you might download). It's a waste of power really, and I know this from personal experience. Had it launched in a timely matter it's performance may have been more forgiving, but when you have current gen Hummingbird processors playing MKV rips no problem and a dual-core Nvidia stuttering every 2 seconds I think that's embarrassing.
Exynos > Dual core Snapdragon > ...Tegra 2
edit: when I say any videos I really do mean 720p and up resolutions without re-incoding. If you want to read more, just search Tegra 2's and NEON support. It's not a very well publicized issue but when you have phones that do HDMI out/mirroring I think it's a PITA I have to reincode every video.
The Galaxy S 2 doesn't have a notification LED. Not a big deal for someone who never had 1 on their phone, but for those who did, that could be a deal-breaker.

I'm sure BLN (A sort of hack that uses the soft-button lights on the front as an LED notification) can and will be developed for the SGS2, so it shouldn't be to much of a deal-breaker.
Deciding between this or the sensation for my next phone. The screen will be "better" on the sgs2 but I'm not sure how people can use it at night when the sgs's screen is already so damn bright.
im stuck between the metal construction vs the plastic of the samsung.... almost all companies have switched to unibody/glass consturctions for their high end devices and samsung continues to try and cut cost with their plastic build... galaxy s2 does seem to be better in almost all other aspects though, especially speed

hey guys when the SGS2 arrives do you think Future Shop will allow me to purchase the phone outright without a contract? I don't remember what policy they had for the SGS1 since during the time when I bought it there was virtually no stock anywhere and i lucked out with craigslist.
I got a $200 FS gift card and I figure I should use it

Check out the screen filter app on the market. I keep my captivate on 0% except in direct sunlight, and yes even at night it's pretty bright. The app will further darken the screen if you want.

Nope, they wont let u buy out at beginning.
Until the supply is sufficient they might do it. But, i dont think it will happen on SGS2
