Better. Cfroot is just the stock Samsung kernel rooted with recovery. Ninphetamine has optimizations and backlight notifications.
I actually find all of the custom Kernels have worse battery than the original Samsung kernels. I've tried a lot of custom kernels and I always end up going back to a CF Root kernel
For some reason, all the custom kernels i've tried ramp up the CPU way too often. At idle, i can literally watch the CPU speed jump from 200, 500, 1200, 200, 800, 1200 every second. CPUSpy also proves that more time is definitely spent in the higher frequencies on a custom kernel.
on the stock CF Root kernel, CPU speeds stay relatively low at 200 with a quick spike to a higher frequency and then quickly back down to 200 for a while.
On CF Root KH3, I get roughly 18-20hrs battery life .
on any custom kernel, i'd be lucky to break 14 hours.
Yes, I'm aware you can undervolt, underclock, and adjust the governor aggressiveness, but even with all those tweaks, i barely noticed a difference.
If you guys want to test on your own, install CPUSpy from the market and see for yourselves. Just flash your favorite kernel, do your usual thing, and check CPUSpy at the end of the day.
This is what my usage looks like today on CF-root KH3:

Hmm interesting. I normally net at least 20hours a charge on ninphetamine.

On September 30th, Samsung ‘Galaxy S2 LTE‘ released a series of fun new CFs featuring their endorsement model, IU.
The three-part series wittily describes the difference in speed of their LTE service compared to other phones on the 3G network. By having IU play the role of a soldier, a college student, and an office employee, the CF compares their speed to every day life experiences.
In the army CF, she’s pictured as a new recruit who makes a speedy advancement to her discharge with the catch phrase, “The speed of this phone is just like being discharged on the day of your enlistment.” In the college student CF, she’s seen as a stressed out high school senior making a jump into a free college student with the catch phrase, “The speed of this phone is like becoming a college student as soon as you become a high school senior.”
In the office CF, the catch phrase states, “The speed of this phone is like it becoming Friday the minute you get into work on a Monday.”
Just upgraded to villainrom 3.0. Installed villain tweeks, circle battery, and logsprovider patch. Easy install. Dunno what 2.3.5 adds though. Posted via RS Mobile
Villain tweaks allows me to disable the full battery notification and increasing ringtone. Logsprovider patch gets rid of the txt messages in the call log. Posted via RS Mobile
