You had to do a device reservation through Rogers.CA on your account. surprised you didn't hear about it.I had been in the device queue for two months and yesterday Rogers called me to tell me its available for pick up at the Rogers plus location I had selected.I don't notice much difference between 4g lte and 3g tho Posted via RS Mobile
I did reserve it, but the store I reserved it to (Oakridge) doesn't have it yet. I called around, and nobody seems to have it. Can you tell me where you picked it up?
2) Install KIES
Unzip the 2 files in Odin
Unzip the 1 file in CF-Root-SGS2_XXXXXX.zip
3) Power off the phone.
Hold the following buttons down: Home and Volume Down. While holding these buttons down hold down the Power button too. So now that you're holding all 3 down the phone will turn on. When you see the Samsung GTi91000m you can release all the buttons. You should now be in Download mode with a big green Android.
4) Plug in the phone.
Run Odin3 v1.85.exe
It should detect your phone in the first box under ID:Com and will highlight it yellow
Make sure that Auto-Reboot is checked and F.reset time are the only ones checked
Click PDA and choose the tar file CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4 you extracted in step 2
Click Start.
When it's done flashing your phone will reboot. Unplug.
5) Now you're rooted and back in Android. You'll need to connect using wifi and install the following app: https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result
Run this app. Click Step 1 then when it's ok click Step 2
Your phone should black screen and reboot. Give it a minute. After it reboots you're unlocked.
(Note: When all is working. Copy out the Galaxy_S_Unlock folder on the phone via USB and keep it in a safe place. This folder holds your encrypted IMEI/Mac Addresses/Etc.)
I'm doing this all from memory so hopefully I haven't missed anything.
FAQs:
1) Yellow Triangle: Means you're running custom kernel/rom. Doesn't affect anything. Can be removed but it's a lot of work for nothing.
2) Bell GPS navigation: Does not work if you aren't a Bell customer. This app checks to see if you're on the Bell network before it'll activate the license so use a different app like Navigon, Copilot, Sygic, etc.
3) The unlock app can be uninstalled when you're done. It's not needed afterwards.
After rooting it with these steps, could I still load other firmwares onto it? Specifically, I'm looking to help someone add Chinese to their phone.
Would you like to make me an idiot proof guide tobput villianrom 3.0 on my sg2. Its already rooted and unlocked , thanks to your first idiot proof guide Posted via RS Mobile

Well.. Everything afterwards is pretty idiotproof
Do note that you will lose everything you have on the phone.
Simply download the ROM and put it on internal memory. Then boot into ClockworkModRecovery and roughly do this:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Under Advanced: Wipe Dalvik-cache
Select Flash Zip from SD Card
Select the villainrom zipfile
and confirm install.
Been testing out different Kernels and Radios lately. Found that KI1 and KG3 seem to perform the best for me on Rogers.
Kernels tried the Ninphetamine 2.0.5 but now moved onto SiyahKernel v2.1.1. It has more Governors and Schedulers to choose from which should net better battery life.
I'm currently undervolted 100ma across all freq's using SIO Scheduler and SmartassV2 Governor
Currently at 88% unplugged time of 3.5 hours. Will see how it goes over the next few days.
do u ppl do nothing on phoen? HAHA
jkjk
fuck i need to figure mine out...
arghhh
so many conflicting reports on Nexus S sides
I understand every phone reacts differently to different MV/UV settings. but fuck some people are so ignorant there sometimes!

Yup. You might still be more since screen on time is the most power hungry. There are just way too many factors for battery life. I'm happy if the battery lasts from when I wake up to when I goto sleep.

Also can i delete the villanrom from internal memory?
