So I just got my SGS2 LTE. I'm afraid to ask, but are there any tips or links that I can check out for a new user? I read about modding, rooting, flashing ROMs, etc, but I don't know which to follow first.
I realize this whole thread is essentially talking about this, but the sheer number of pages it's now accumulated is daunting to look over.
I was thinking about starting a new thread; sort of like "Beginners guide to modding Android".

the first post of this thread talks abotu rooting
anything after that... its probably easier to read this thread and then post your screens thread for homescreen setup
I did mess with a SGS2 yesterday
so far, Villainrom3.0 is pretty much stock rom for root devices
Nitephamine or wutever kernel seems to be amazing for sgs2. I didnt play with or read about this kernel so its prob up to mikroft or yaminashi to help u with that
but as for the LTE, it might not be the same since the basebands probably will be different. most of the SGS2 on this thread have the 2 softkey setup, but the rogers LTE sgs2 has 4 softkeys
it might be an entirely different section on xda

Go here to download the ROM and Kernel: Download | CheckROM
Wipe data/cache/dalvik and then install the ROM and Kernel.
Reboot and you will find the Kitchen Pro app in the App Drawer.

Meh ok ppl so I apologize my estimates were too optimistic
Waking up this morning I had 87% after about 6.5 hours...so I guess max on pure standby would be 2 days give or take a little depending on background data usage
Yes I do know with even avg usage I wont get near that batt life but at least compared to villainrom 2.3 the new one eats alot less battery on standby which im happy with~

You need an LTE plan to get LTE speeds.

Happens to me on occasion as well, but I think its due to me playing around with setCPU

I've always stuck with 2.0.5 for Ninphetamine. Villainrom guys said the newer ones weren't as good for battery.

ok my phone is seriously fucked up. All of a sudden I got a message saying my USB storage is damaged. Cant access anything in my gallery. If I pull down the notification menu and click on the prompt it basically tells me its going to format my USB storage and all data will be lost. WTF
Formatting does nothing either. The phone thinks I have no SD card or its connected to the computer. What should I do?

I keep having issue with custom rom on the sgs2.
Wifi not working, drop calls etc etc...
So I went back to stock.
Using official stock 2.3.5 KI4,
Super smooth and battery life is as good as old Lite'n'ing 6.1.
3~4% drain on idle overnight, 5~6% with wifi on.
As good as custom roms I would say.
Just missing ability to tweaks and some other goodies with custom rom.
