I can't imagine it being much faster.. and the battery life is way better then I've expected. I've been working a night last night, had my phone off the charger for just over 12 hours now and still have 80% left! and that's with 3g on .. some light usage.. gps, couple phone calls, texts and about 10 mins of gaming. I've installed a CF-ROOT KG2 kernel and used titanium backup to freeze/uninstall most of bloatware.. the only thing I kinda miss is BLN.. but other then that I really have no complaints against the samsung provider firmware..
plus this this whole kernel counter / samsung catching on to the jig usage thing is kind of sketchy. why can't they just let us play with our phones?
so really what I'm saying is convince me. is the battery life really going to get better then a 20% drop in 12 hours? can this phone actually get noticably faster?
cheers and happy new year! | So wait, are you wanting us to convince you to keep your S2? Or are you asking why we flash custom roms?

CM9 now good for daily use. Even before the NITZ fix, everything was fine for me. New kernel released.

I'm using the latest cm9 now. Seems to be working pretty good.
The proximity sensors are still kind of weird and occasionally don't blank off the screen properly.
Vibrate also gets messed up but can be temporarily fixed by long-pressing the power button.
Battery drain is still fairly high but I read it can be decreased by manually closing the Media processes.

No I'm keeping the s2. I'm just wondering the real benefits of checkrom (which I've downloaded and had ready to flash but am second guessing because the phone has already exceeded my expectations and more wondering if there's a real benefit to the speed/battery life of check. Posted via RS Mobile |

I'm trying to flash checkrom onto my SGS2 but when I try to install the ROM in rom manager it brings me to the blue recovery screen not the orange CWM one. What am I doing wrong? I already flashed CWM Recovery for SGS2

I think Rom Manager is different from CWM. Try flashing it thru CWM by pressing home button, power, and volume down.

But there seem to be a few bugs still Posted via RS Mobile | True, there are still bugs to be ironed out but nothing that's a real dealbreaker imho. Seriously once you switch you won't want to go back to gingerbread. It's just so much nicer when you've used it for a while. Besides, that's what nandroid backups are for Posted via RS Mobile |

Some ppl have similar problem on xda and they suggested formatting the sd card. Kind of drastic but worth a shot?

If anyone is running the latest cm9 (Build 01022012-2), if you have the problem with AudioOut_1 partial wakelock eating your battery up all the time, go to System Settings --> Sound --> Touch sounds and uncheck that. That solved it for me. Apparently even Galaxy Nexus has this as a partial wakelock eating up battery.
The newest build also uses proprietary sensor code which fixes the accelerometer sensor and the phone can flip from portrait to landscape mode very quickly as before. Proximity sensor also improved and is not finicky anymore.
edit: This thing is awesome for a daily rom even right now. Only things that are still not working are: video camera mode, playback of videos (YouTube and your own movies due to lack of codecs), vibration decreasing a lot once phone enters sleep (can be resolved by long-pressing the home button), and the pain in the ass MTP file transfer mode instead of USB mounting but that is the case with the Nexus as well.
