my team shortens the bench if it is close and late in the game

I don't mind the chippiness, as long as the refs are consistent.

I really don't like the 4 min high stick penalty rule. I mean shit, I lift my stick up to go around a guy in the boards, and as i bring my stick down it hits the guy on the BACK of his helmet and the guy flails like a little bitch. 4 mins for that? I can understand a missed stick lift causing a high stick, but wtf.

Are all stick infractions ie, slashes 4 min penalties too?

All stick infractions are supposed to be 4 min, regardless intentional or not. But I do believe if ou draw blood, it will be an automatic game misconduct(no suspension, as long as it's not intent to injure)

i got a question tho..do you guys bench your worst players ie. the ones who can barely skate or who are generally just ineffective out there when it's a close game?
I'm by no means the greatest player but damn, sometimes when it's a 4 on 4 it still feels like a powerplay for the other team with certain linemates

My team doesn't, unless it's a collective agreement amongst everyone and it's close and an important playoff game, otherwise, it's stupid, especially for low ass divs.

I think if we finish anything less that with a championship in hand after our season it will be a failure. lot of pressure on us to succeed. feel like the canucks lol

yea we're stacking it up for the playoffs and benching our newbies when the games are close..yea your team would've won for sure last night if you guys stacked it up a bit at the end..

good to know about the stick infractions.. I was goalie was a zinc2 game and my teammate got high sticked and the other player got a 2 mins pen. i asked the ref why it wasn't 4 mins when an earlier HS pen was 4 mins, he said it was accidental... and "its zinc 2, get over it". I won't name who the ref was but, like most asian refs in any roller hockey league, class act!". And since when was a high stick ever "on purpose". Yes, I intentionally missed my stick lift and clipped his head because I felt like it.

I wonder if some of these refs are fully certified. Another one I loved was

me/teammate: "what was that for??"

ref: "you know".

me thinking : "ummm no i don't know.. that is why i asked you. and it is your job to tell me what i did....

I realize there is no point arguing with refs because you will never win, and will only get them against you as the game goes on, but it never ceases to amaze me at the interpersonal skills most refs lack.

spideyv2 07-18-2011 06:08 PM

at least VIHL refs aren't as bad as PICH ones. Some of em gotta stop goofing simple rules tho :(

vihl in general isn't that bad.. the only thing that is shitty is the fact that most refs are buddy buddys with some players on teams.. which can be bad or good. but that is pretty hard to avoid.. i like how panchuk has no say in disciplanary actions... although one of our players got suspended because of "what a fan saw"

FlyNvBaller 07-18-2011 06:33 PM

I don't think ref's are that bad. When they blow a call, i usually just talk to them on the side calm and collected. it usually goes a long way for the rest of the game and future games.

what pisses me off are teams including my teammates who yell at everything the ref does or doesn't do. And it's always the lower end players on every team that seem to do this.

ya, it's frikking roller hockey for christs sake.. in general, it is funny when some teams take stuff so seriously like it were the stanley cup finals. and those who take exception to a nudge. it isn't personal, it's hockey lol

[quote=BlueG2;7515869]I wonder if some of these refs are fully certified.
[QUOTE]

VIHL and Sportsplex refs are both certified by the same sanction, NIHA.
And honestly, the test isn't all that hard. As long as you played hockey for a good amount of time(not noob) or is an avid hockey fan(not bandwagoners) anyone can pass the test. I'd say contact Tajiri and let him know about any poor reffing.

PICH refs, are supposed to be certified, by it's not by NIHA, so i don't know what is with them. But PICH refs are the worst. I only came across a few good refs, one of them being fresh out of JR A(played for the giants), but the rest of them are blind as fuck. I got called hooking when I lifted an opposing players stick and another time, some guy tried to fancy deke me and kicked my skate and tripped, I got called for tripping. Most of the time, they don't even want to be there. Lame.....

+1 for VIHL refs, especially compared to PICH. Langley refs aren't too bad either, except we had an all asian team in copper 1 and came across this 1 racist ref.

spideyv2 07-18-2011 08:48 PM

Off-topic but what the FUCK is up with those hockey ads about learning how to skate better or some shit on the VIHL and pointstreak site? that shit plays so loud and there's no way of turning the volume off or pausing it..

RevYouUp 07-18-2011 09:12 PM

yes its so fking loud..it scares me sometimes..

spideyv2 07-18-2011 10:13 PM

anyone else have the same problem when they tie up their laces and after a few minutes can feel it getting loose again? I can feel my ankles moving around a bit in the skates..
I know for a fact my blades aren't too big, so i'm thinking it's time to get replacement laces?

6thGear. 07-18-2011 10:20 PM

Reverse lace it and tie tighter or buy waxed laces(which is a waste for roller really)

Chronix 07-18-2011 10:32 PM

bad reffing caused us to lose our elimination game last year.

that one skinny asian ref who cant really skate and has weird hand gestures when calling penalties. good thing he didnt ref our division this year.

i use waxed laces for roller.. it isn't a waste. besides being a water repellent on ice, it adds grip when you tie up your skates.. so why would it be a waste on roller?

You guys are the defending champs so the pressure is on you to repeat :fullofwin: if we can make it to the finals vs the defending champs then the season would have been worth it.

Spidey 07-19-2011 10:07 AM

don't like this memorial cup style.. i rather see the top team in each div get a by to semis... and have the first round single elm. even though my team lost in the first round, it makes for too much hockey after a 17 game summer reg season

spideyv2 07-19-2011 11:49 AM

more hockey is better for those who cant afford ice, or are only playing for one team. there's a couple players on our team playing for 2 or 3 other teams, wtffffffffff. ballin outta control

spideyv2 07-19-2011 11:51 AM

fuggit, gonna go pick up some waxed laces in a bit. Tired of my skates starting to get loose like a beatin vag after a 5 minute warm up.

Er, I guess "waste" is the wrong word, perhaps "overkill"? Don't get me wrong, I used to get wax laces as well, but then I found using "hand-me- downs" wax laces from my ice skates and reverse lacing does the job the same. But I do concur on the adding grip part.

Are they single? When I'm inbetween gf's, I had more money to spend on hockey and more time to play on several teams..lol.

when i was single, i spent a lot my my free time playing hockey especially if my friends were single.. that and when i didn't have to wake up at 5am on weekdays for work. You are right though, if i were single, I wouldn't mind playing hockey 2-3times a week, but not because I had more money, but I would be bored lol
