You WILL need your stock OBD2 ecu. Otherwise the AirCare computer won't interface with your OBD1 ecu, which is a fail. Even if you have no CEL, they still have to be able to scan.
Same sort of deal with JDM ecu's. Thats what I was running, and AirCare's computer did not interface with my JDM ecu, so I failed. Even though I didn't have any codes, etc. I even tried to get them to do the roller test instead, but no dice.
I had to borrow a USDM ecu from Garage 5 to get it through.
On a side note, why aren't you running a OBD2 ecu anyhow? Unless you're running Hondata, or planning to, just go grab an ecu from a 1.6EL or Civic Si from a wrecker (same D16y8 as yours). Wire up your o2 sensors and you won't have to worry about it again.
