OMG you people crack me up. I just joined this site from Cobaltss.net and am not any kind of sponsor. I am fairly new to tuning and wa expecting more Hp as well. My car is a 2005 and came stock with 205 Hp. I have added a Injen CAI and a Ark Grip exhuast before the stage 5 kit from Intense. The only change I made was a 2.7 belt instead of the 2.5 as Intense told me that I would have to upgrade my fuel delivery to a return style before going to the smallest belt. The total upgrade including the kit, cooling mods and header was 3000.00 parts labour tax. Have I not received a good tune as I felt I would get a higher gain with the supporting mods I had already done.

Just curious how much it would have been to convert it to the turbo setup used on the Cobalts vs Staying with your Supercharger. The Turbo's make way more power more easily to they not?

Berz out.

$3000=50hp?

You could have bought 50 horses for that.

twin-charged STi? wowwww, nice.

as for the OP, sounds like a nice upgrade kit you got there. although, the "stage 5" labeling sounds a little off. usually a stage 5 type kit would net you big big power. however, the $3000 price tag sounds in line with the type of hp you are currently making. I would highly suggest you get the kit tuned properly. I wouldn't be surprised if you would hit near 300whp with some proper tuning!

im just wondering... why didnt you just opt 4-5 more grand towards the newer 2008+ turbo cobalt ss instead of spending 3k on a stage 5 supercharger? gm made LOTS of enhancement on the 2008+ cobalt ss, which they ditched the super charger and came factory turbocharged, launch control, brembo brakes, lsd, 260crank hp
used ones can be found for around 20k.. no?

i could be wrong on the price though, i dont really look up cobalts often but just sayin

They're two different engine designs (LSJ vs LNF), I don't think many parts are compatible. Not to mention that LNF's are direct injection...

let me shed a little light here...the supercharged cobalts came with 205 crank hp and 200 crank tq...stage 5 is offered by a company called intense racing.. which practically NO ONE buys from any more because they were a terrible vendor for the cobalt guys ...it is very rare to hear someone buying anything from them...their stage kits are also rediculous...they change one little thing and called it another stage kit.....most cobalt guys with the supercharger buy a stage 2 kit from over the top performance which is just injectors, smaller supercharger pulley and a belt and tune out of the box... whp should be around 230-250 with that and exhaust/ intake... keep in mind that theres power through most of the rpm band so its actually faster than u think .....the new lnf (turbo models ) came with 260 hp 260 tq at the crank from factory...they had factory stage kits (1 and 2) bringing them up to around 300 / 300 crank ...but good tune and turbo back has been known to produce around 330 whp and 360/380 tq its direct injection so no injector change really possible...going turbo on the supercharged cars as possibly stated about they don't use the turbo model turbo they go after market and make anywhere from 260-(we've seen) 400whp anything after that required work / didn't last long and blew up and rebuild was needed

Its still a slowbalt. Ugly, FWD w/ long wheelbase. I don't really care what the production model ring times are. After 400bhp you cant get much else out of it unless your crazy baller rich. I'd rather buy a mark4 r32 and invest the savings i get from not buying the slowbalt.

And if your going to fail me why not attach an argument with it as well?

Holy Crap Euro! Please dont try helping me OK. I like this site and have thick skin. I stubbled into the car I have as a sporty cheap mode of transportation and when I looked closer found that it sort of fell into a tuner car market which was new to me. I love doing this and likely will go to a more mainstream type tuner once this summer is done. I joined this site to learn more about imports so my next purchase will be an educated one. For now I do love driving my cobalt with the new power.

I have to agree that pic of the STi is SICK. I dont know how to paste pictures into my posting so I am adding a album of pics I shot today and can you suggest a good tuner?
