^Yes. Production of the current gen will continue. There won't be a next gen though. They often announce the axe years before the last car roll off the production line.
Just like the Eclipse's death expect to be 2014: http://www.pricewheels.com/blog/2011...made-vehicles/
The Evo's demise is expected, though. The car caters to an extremely small crowd and Mitsubishi isn't in the business to please automotive enthusiasts. It's a little late to the party but you can say they learned from the best: Honda and their NSXs.

this is as sad as toyota axing the supra....only thing left now is to axe the skyline (way over priced compared to how it used to be sold...not an everyday achieveable car any more)....and the sti (which has gotten crappier after 06/07 but the new sedan form havn't heard too much of it yet

R34's GTRs were never ever cheap brand new. same goes for the older models.
Z-tune R34 is well over 250k usd. Sir hyde is correct.

Speculation surrounding the Mitsubishi Evolution has reached a fever pitch over the last few days. Has the Lancer Evolution reached the end of the line? Is Mitsubishi going to produce a new version that utilizes a hybrid powertrain? We don't have an answer, but we do know that fans of the Evo are scared. The object of their affection has potentially met its demise. In an effort to show how much the car would be missed, a group of Evo-lovers have banded together to show support for the car they so-admire.
The title reads "Mitsubishi, Keep the Evo Alive" and it's for an online petition to show the tri-diamond automaker how much its sports sedan will be missed. If you want to join in and show support, head over to the site and join the cause. If you prefer the dirt-drift action of a Subaru, then lean back in your chair, don't click anything and cackle wildly.

7 million yen is roughly 82k CAD, so it seems around the same price as we get them here. Quote:

*Just realized the data was only provided the Venezuelan government, and not external sources yet. Sounds sketchy but it definitely isn't unreasonable. Russia also has massive oil/gas reserves which are largely untapped.
**Also, the largest of the Saudi oilfields is widely suspected to be far lower than stated. When oil fields lose pressure, companies pump in salt water to increase the pressure but this ruins the quality of the crude. Saudi Arabia keeps its oilfield data secret so nobody really knows how much is inside.

Im just curious since the evo and the sti wrx are always rivals......in rally, snow, and performance...i don't think Mitsubishi would not make a mistake in not recontinued the models

I don't think this is the end of the EVO forever. It's a matter of the manufacturer recognizing the market and making changes to survive.
History appears to be repeating itself. After the power wars of 1965-1972, there was a major car lull until the late 80's revival. So enjoy your 2009 evo. It's the modern day equivalent of the 69' Nova SS. Posted via RS Mobile |
