pretty sure that is fake, truck was prolly totalled before they even did this and id be willing to bet they cut the frame.

The frame is a lot stronger than that, the tow rope or the tow hook wouldve snapped before the frame did. Even if the frame did break, it would bend and not just snap in half like that.

It might not be fake, if you're looking at the frame, it folded along the section between the cabin and cargo bed. The weight of the cargo's to rest on the rear wheels, and the rest of the weight is focused above the front wheels (engine, drivetrain, etc.) The joint might be designed to take some weight, sure, but not the kind of torque they're putting that through. They're asking for it to support the whole front half of the truck, which likely weighs more half of the total.

regardless there is no way the frame would snap so easily, its a full size pickup with either a fully boxed frame or at least c-rails, its not a ridgeline. the tow vehicle would lose traction or the cable or anchoring points would snap way before the frame folds in half.

this video is fake as shit.

The tow video looks like a log skidder, if it is, then its more than capable of bending the truck in half without having the tires slip or cables break.

I think your overestimating the strength of a pick-up trucks frame, the truck is having a massive amount of force exerted on it by the skidder on one end and is holding several tons of water on the other. The result is completely logical, it found the weakest point and bent in half.

Two of those vids, they are using recovery straps and are snapping them tight rather than applying gradual load. Shock loading like that can bend and rip off whatever they have it attached to such as the bumper. As that truck in the lake, I agree with Mindbomber as the tremendous weight of the water/ice/snow wasn't accounted for and the frame folded. And as for the tow truck, looks like an old beat up F150 with a crane.

I saw this on TV a while ago
