my sexual activity is the same as yours. :)

it just seems stupid that there is a news article about a school enforcing its rules, regardless of how stupid the rule may be.

Actually, with him being from BYU (a mormon based university) some religious students have the perk (I don't know if this is the right word) of having their tuitions paid by the school, but in return, having to go elsewhere to do their "mission" for a few years. The "mission" they are obligated to do is to knock on doors to tell the world about mormonism.

So, -if- he was heavily into the religion, the chances of him going to another school for sports is highly unlikely.

Not a good enough reason - not a valid justification for respect.

This is just pre-marital sex. Homosexuality is an even bigger religious taboo. Are they propagating that gay people can't play team basketball? or is unwelcome?

They're not really nice when nice is just limited to "as long as you share their views or conform to their societal standards".

^well tim hardaway said he doesn't want any gay players on his team

^^well it is a private school + religious. gay people = unwelcome. unless the gays realize that being gay is wrong (on religious terms) and want to change their lifestyle, then maybe they will be accepted.

I would disagree. Just because you don't agree with people's outlook and views on life, you can still respect them.

discrimination by sexual orientation is the same as discrimination by ethnicity no? (based on both being discriminations of nature and not of choice.)

So on a non-religious analogy - do I have to respect racists despite strong disagreements with their views on life?

nobody told YOU to respect anything, the other guy was stating that HE is choosing to respect certain aspects of it.

To reasonable people yes, but I think a lot of these fundamentalists are hell-bent on believing that sexual orientation is a choice and can be beaten/brainwashed out of people.

Depends which religion. The misconception in Catholicism is that homosexuality is wrong - it is not. Homosexual activity is considered a sin since it falls under the premarital sex category.

Like some Islam radicals, we also have Christian zealots who interpret the contents of the Bible to follow their own hateful agenda ( ie. being homosexual is a sin ).

Anyways, back on topic. I would like to know who ratted this guy out. Secondly, do you know how hard it is to be a Div 1 ball player and avoid all the women chasing you ?

Lastly, he knew what he signed up for. Sadly, the school enforced it. Perhaps if he was a 20 ppg /10 rpg player, the school would turn the blind eye (Just like how other schools attract superstar athletes by ignoring how low the athlete's grades are).
