Home Alarm Maintenance and Monitoring

Hi All,

Are the any reputable companies anyone could recommend for maintenance on my home alarm system? I am looking to add a couple of window and motion detectors amd split the basement suite rental into a separate zone.
It is on a 6yr old DSC system.

As well are there any monitoring companies anyone knows of? I tried Alarm Force that always advertises on the radio but they say they're not compatible with my system and want to install something new.

Thanks.

Your alarm panel will need to be a 832/864/1616/1832/1864 to be able to split/partition. There are 1555/632 (6 zone panels) that cannot be partitioned, and you would either need to change the mainboard or add a 2nd panel.

When I was taking the SST program at BCIT everyone, including the instructors, ridiculed Alarm Force. They have a catchy jingle but that's about it.

stay away!

Also be weary of any offers that may be too good to be true. Good local monitoring will run you around $25/month.

There is ALWAYS a catch with companies who offer it for $9.99/month... I'd ask where their monitoring station is located and who is actually making the calls...

We deal a lot with Accurate Alarms through work, they've been solid. They're local, they do installs, locksmithing, and monitoring.
