broke my 15$ keyboard. Looking for something nicer/customizable for game, but my budget is under 80$


Logitech G110 $69.99 NCIX

Razer black widow (non LED version) $74.99 NCIX


Anyone have experience with these?, how about mechanical keyboard, whats the hype all about. I mean I have always use the el cheepo plastic keyboard, would it make a world of difference?

Mechanical keyboards are different breed I'd say. You need to try using one before deciding on buying one as there are different types. I switched from Saitek Eclipse to Filco Majestouch with brown switches and I absolutely love it.
I always liked Logitech's keyboards over Razer's but I haven't tried the new Blackwidow. See if you find one you can try before you buy one.

Logitech G110 $69.99 NCIX would be my choice. Lot's of macro keys and is really nice to type on.

Currently i am using Razer Lycosa. I like the rubber grip a lot. However, there are no macro keys (at least not to the degree of G10) also the lights on the keys sometimes turn off by itself. Not a biggy for me since I can always turn it back on.

$69 for the G10 is a steal I would get it. The only issue you might have with the G10 is that it is a large keyboard.


mechanical keyboard is like those keyboards form the 1990s (Picture those old old school IBM ones). They feel very soild and hard when you type of them (Unlike the plastic ones). For me I like the razer Lycosa is pretty good since the rubber grip makes it really easy and comfy to type.


Now can someone suggest a good gaming mouse? Currently using MX518 but I find it a bit small for my hand and not enough keys lol.

Where are you getting your prices from... I don't see those keyboards for that cheap.
Judging from your avatar, you like phantom assassin. For dota i prefer my razer lycosa, you don't need all those macros for dota.

tbh, go to a place like Memory Express to see if they have any demo units out
sometimes the "feel" of the keyboard is more important than features
ive owned cheap keyboards to lycosa to g110 to all these other gaming keyboards, but i settled down with the Alienware keyboard because the keys are comfortable.

lycosa: after a while, the rubberized keys get a bit "dry" (mind you, i do clean it every 2 - 3 weeks) and that it gets irritating when using it (same as my Razer mamba) which was why i sold the lycosa, but overall its a good keyboard

g110: regretted getting it because the keyboard layout felt squished, maybe because it had the multi-lingual setup, but yea i didn't like it that well and there were way too many macro keys that i had no use for (i have 6 on my alienware atm, and i hardly use them as is)

Only con of the alienware (imo) is no USB and Audio plugs, but the feel of the keys are very very good.

personally myself, I want to try a mechanical keyboard but i'm not sure if i would like it, so i would prefer to test out a demo unit before hand, but till then my current alienware keyboard will be more than enough

can someone educateme on mechanical keyboards? i see them going for $200 and they seem just like the keyboards from the 90's

i know they dont sell them anymore but g15 revision 2 still has the best bang for buck IMO..though i dont use the lcd much anymore...

pretty much the feel of mechanical keyboards > rubberized keys
most keyboards keys are like the keys you find in remote controls

also, the feedback is different because in a normal keyboard you have to press it all the way down before it registers the key pressed to the PC, whereas a mechanical keyboard registers the key before the key is fully pressed

these price were the Ncix weekly sales, its over now, razer black widow none illuminated one for 74.99$ starting tonight. I guess that is a cheap mechanic keyboard.

Lycosa still going for like 90$ and wasn't there some buggy issues with it?

will Arctosa be worth the $50 without any feature?, G110 at $69.99 with free 10$ gift card looked like the best bang for the buck.

SteelSeries Ikari Laser. I upgraded to it after my MX518 crapped out on me. I prefer the shape, and on-the-fly CPI customization is great. But mostly, I like the shape and feel of the mouse a lot.

When I was looking to buy a mechanical keyboard, there weren't a lot of options I could find here. Therefore, I got my friend to order one in Japan and ship it to me. elitekeyboards.com still sell some good keyboards. You'll notice most of the difference when you're typing (especially blue cherry switch). I'm using brown switches right now and it gives a good balance between gaming and typing.
I only play SC2 and dota tho. For SC2, I only need the numbers for hotkeys and for Dota, I use Dotakeys to remap all the hotkeys for items. As for the mouse, I used MX518 for the longest time until I switched to Deathadder. =)

Nice information, but wow! those are expensive 100- 300 dollars for a keyboard? I would rather save some money and not be very picky.

Holy shit, 1159 page thread? Some of those keyboards look pretty sweet, this is slightly offtopic but my favourite keyboard is an older one that came with my cheap Compaq, however it has PS2 and my new computer does not. Are there any good PS2 PCI cards out there that are a decent price?

Aren't scissor switch membrane just standard laptop k/b?

I have the dinovo edge...amazing keyboard but it's too precious to be gamed on...and the stainless steel palm rest gets too cold in the winter (unfortunately it's just become a home decor in the living room than getting actually usage)

Personally - I find the travel way too short for scissor keyboards. I get tired typing on them for a long time. But I guess it's personal preference.

I'm actually looking for a good Cherry MX Brown - a little tactile feel - so not like the black widow ones where there's not tactile feel which sucks for typing.
