PAYING FOR AIR AT GASSTATION??

I had a leak in my rear tire that i fixed but had to keep inflating everyday for aboiut 4 days being too busy. Two gasstations 1 being at 2nd and main, the other being at Renfrew and Hastings have coin operated air pumps for tires, 50 cents for Main GS, and $1.00 for Renfrew GS WTF man, anyways apparently you don't have to actually pay, they just have the coin slots there for dummys put in by by peice of shit people, you may have to tell the attendant to turn it on, which they atre suppose to do i think. Point is here don't pay! You don't have to!

iamed 03-16-2011 05:14 PM

What is so surprising for paying to use an air pump on at a gas station? The air may be free but maintenance costs to keep it running is not. If you're unhappy about it, then try your luck at another gas station that may provide that service for free.

spydermanx 03-16-2011 05:15 PM

Most Chevrons still have free air and water.

Nlkko 03-16-2011 05:15 PM

50 cents in the Esso downtown. Don't know if you can tell them to turn it on. Not a huge cost so I just do it twice a month.

I know the Husky and Shell on King Edward and Oak have free air.

Yep, either the machines are free, or just pull up to the full service pumps and use the machines there. If its not busy they won't care that you're blocking a full service spot while not getting gas.

Seems to me that a gas station should provide free air regardless. They seem to make enough of a profit to be able to provide free air as a courtesy (if you will).

da-suu 03-16-2011 05:28 PM

yo i had this problem before, it is str8 bullshit piss me off. but i went inside i told the dude wtf i have to pay for air ? and the guy in the gas station turn the power on from inside.

dont pay for it , just go inside and complain

baggdis300 03-16-2011 05:38 PM

lol, at least at the ones in surrey the coins actually turn on the compressor...
the attendant had zero control over it and certain times its unavailable, and that one time another customer had let me borrow his emergency compresser so i could just limp the car to the tire shop.

Gas stations don't make crazy profit. They're just a middle man. Ever wonder why so many have gone out of business? why don't you buy a massive air compressor and all the equiptment and give away free air to everyone.

what the guy told me was that its not to make money off people, they could give a fuck less about your 25 cents. Its to discourage the crack heads on bikes from constantly filling their shitty tires up and hanging out near the gas station. Its a place of buisness that doesnt need dirty hobos hanging out scary away the paying customers. Some of you may not know, but the crack heads rolling around on bikes are the theives. Seriously, no jokes

How about, just go inside and ASK?

jstn86 03-16-2011 05:52 PM

i usually just go inside and ask.
10/10 they just turn it on for me.
it helps if you fill up and ask them POLITELY.

My friend works at gas station told me once, the place doesn't profit from it, they use those money and donate it to charity.

Better yet, I have a compressor built into my truck and I can come to you. Had to pump up one of my 35" tire that had been punctured.

I needz onboard air. Driving on pavement to the gas station is no fun at 10psi.

I can tell you it won't be fast, prob 30min for all 4 tires, and has intermittent duty cycle. But if you have 4 flat tires, I think you may have bigger problems. It was on sale at Crappy tire last week for $50 or so, so 1/2 off.

lgman 03-16-2011 10:30 PM

watch out some chevrons compressors spew out lots and lots of vapour/water. Grandview and bentall one had this problem shot water out like a geyser... So I gave their debit machine a good de-dusting :D
