- Does it include an intercooler? All the necessary tubing/fittings for the intercooler? Labour to install the intercooler?
- You mentioned a meth kit. How much extra is that kit? And how much labour is required to install it? And does it require any additional setup/tuning, or does it just "work" once you turn it on?
- Does that include dyno time to tune the engine? Or is the engine management ready to go and only needs to be plugged in and turned on?
- Does that include labour to put the engine together? What about gaskets, seals and all the other little things you'll use when assembling the engine?
Perhaps a better question would be this:
If I came to you with a stock Supra and $15K (before taxes) am I going to leave with a fully built Supra engine (meaning everything from the crank to rods/pistons to valvetrain is 100% brand new) that's been fully-assembled and dyno-proven to produce 800HP and can be dropped into my car without requiring any additional components? |
Yeah I know what your saying. I'm a sucker for a big block too, I'm not just an import guy
. But you were only talking about the engine alone. There would be a lot of work that needs to be done to put that 520 in as well. Headers, Radiator, cooling fans, fuel system, modified mounts/crossmember depending on the car, then add labour for all that plus re/re.
Actually we've done a build like that on a stock 2jz before for under $15000 installed.
These figures are close because customer supplied some parts, but comparable to other kits
Single Turbo kit including piping and intercooler.... $6000
Fuel system upgrades.... $1200
Cams.... $1000
Engine Management...... $2000
Meth Kit..... $450
Installed and Tuned ...... $4000
Thats $14650.
Car made 590rwhp on our dyno which is around 785hp at the crank and is driven daily. I doubt the Kasse Engine would be a comfortable daily driver.
