hmmmm
interior em1 < rsx
exterior em1 > rsx - i feel rsx's look a bit too girly.. no offence just my opinion
gas em1's are a mere 1.6 i get like 400+ kms per tank 350 if i drive hard
though my opinion is may be biast i do know em1s are a 10 year old car going to be alot of small things to do just like any older car but with the amount of parts there are for this car its not hard. but same with the rsx there are plenty of parts for it aswell and your less likly to have to fix anything up. My insurance for my em1 lo153$ a month with 40% off so its not bad. N as for theft just get a compustar but there again thats more money invested into an em1. haha anyways id say em1 just cuz =D

i just want to clear this up:
99-00 SiR = EM1; this refers to the chassis code which you can see as part of the VIN.
96-00 USDM hb's = EJ6
yes, we commonly reference our hatches as EK's but in reality, there were no EK's made in canada/usa. EK4 and EK9 are JDM/EDM models.
Anyways, back to OP's question, it really depends what your needs are. If you're looking for comfort (interior and noise), you'd probably be happier with the RSX. If you're looking for something that is fun to drive, better on fuel, and better looking, you'll want the SiR.
There's actually a couple of very well taken care of SiR's that are for sale on VCC. They're also within your price range. http://www.vancouvercivics.com/forum...php?tid=102576 http://www.vancouvercivics.com/forum...php?tid=102512
Personally, I'd rather have an SiR.

As much as i would love to say Join the Club and go with the RSX i wouldnt cause its a base. Perhaps go with a EP3 it will cost roughly the same as a Premium RSX and u get more out of it.

That EP3's body is in great shape for something with that kind of mileage! | Thanks again for the link.
Does the ep3 use reg gas or premium?
You guys are making it so hard for me
I like The comfort and newer look of the Rsx premium .
I like the fun factor and clean look of the em1 . Slammed on SIR rims look so fresh
The ep3 is the best of both worlds!
Insurance- ep3 >Rsx>sir
Looks when stock - Rsx>ep3>sir
Looks when Modded sir> rsx>ep3
Comfort and interior - Rsx > ep3 > sir
Mpg -ep3 > rsx > sir
Interior space ???

DC5S > SiR | basically this.
depends on what you want though. for a daily driver a rsx premium should be good enough. but if you want more fun, EM1 SIR is better choice.
or you could start looking into the DC5S..

yes, we commonly reference our hatches as EK's but in reality, there were no EK's made in canada/usa. EK4 and EK9 are JDM/EDM models. | care to clarify why there is such a drastic difference in chassis codes used by Honda? is it cuz of the engine, or is there a lot more different in the uni-body chassis itself? such as more spot welds, better chassis strengthening, etc.
I'll throw in my two cents here. it all depends on what you want in a car. if you want something more modern and comfortable/classy, then the RSX will win that category by a mile. pure performance and driving fun would be won by the good ol' SiR. but then again, chassis performance and handling is also excellent on the RSX, u will be lacking a little in the power dept.
and as TypeRnammer said above, go test drive all the cars! personally, if you had your heart set on an EP3 then you should get an EP3. my philosophy is to never "settle" cuz you'd always be regretting.

CTR should get the normal Type R chassis treatment..

In between my search, I saw the EP3 (which I currently own) that was on sale for craigslist for a few months.
I got sick looking for the ideal RSX-S so I settled for the EP3, which ended up being an impulsive purchase

EJ6's have a weak subframe and require a brace in order to run a large diameter rear sway bar. EK4's and EK9's have a stronger subframe and come standard with rear sway bars.
EJ6 (96-00 USDM CX/DX hb's) D16Y7 106hp non-vtec
EJ8 (96-00 CDM Si coupes) D16Y8 127hp vtec
EM1 (99-00 CDM SiR/USDM Si) B16A2 160hp vtec
EK4 (96-98 JDM SiR hb) B16A 170hp vtec
EK9 (97-00 JDM Type R) B16B 185hp vtec

I have an SiR and my cousin had an RSX Type-S. I really liked the RSX; however, I was all about the styling and went for the SiR. Both great cars, Acura is known for their luxury edge over Honda.
You really have to try them both out to see which is right for you IMO.
Good luck!
