they are actually not bad - my dad does his subaru maintainence there and I tagged my own car with the service once. But again, it's an oilchange - pretty hard to fuck up.

Too bad it's 5w30/10w30 only. Is there a big difference between 5w20 and 5w30? I've heard that 5w30 is actually better for higher mileage cars as it provides a bit more protection by trading off some gas mileage?

Shouldn't cause a problem.

Does anyone know if we actually need to book an appointment?
On the Richmond subaru website, it says no need for appointment for express oil change.

**I just phoned in, and yes you will need an appointment with the coupon**

its up to you to make the decision.

I just switched up the specified 5w-20 to 5w-30 in my 2002 ford explorer v8. It just hit 200,000kms, it runs great, and i want it to last!

it was using 5w-20 all its life since new up until a month ago when i decided to use 5w-30.

i noticed that consumption is down (although it was only using .5L every 5000kms), smoothness is increased, no increase in engine acoustics, and gas mileage is more or less the same.

I will definitely keep using 5w-30 with this car from now on. I just feel that it provides much superior lubrication as apposed to 5w-20 which is like water when your pouring it into the crankcase.

if you do make the swap, make sure to use 5w and not 10w because then it might interfere with tolerance issues and create more consumption. Or atleast from what i've heard.

Thats cheap. You can't really mess up a oil change, and inspection.
I think the only reason they are doing this is because they have the LOWEST CSI % of all the Subaru dealers in BC.
No matter I bought a few.

That's why I'm wondering if they only change the oil and you have to purchase the filter separately. It doesn't say anywhere in the ad that a filter is included. If that's the case, it's only good for every other oil change IMO. Maybe it's worth it to get people in the door.

It is still a good deal for an oil change, wash and to check up on stuff like possible exhaust issues and brake wear, etc. I live to far for it to be worth it and don't trust many lot guys to wash my car (unless they have a touchless system).

It is included. Also, they use the super general, Imperial oil.

I remember Honda was doing free oil changes a few months back, at the same collecting info for database. Received several phoens calls, no, i'm NOT currently interested in a new Honda Odyssey.

Jokes aside, good deal and mutually beneficial. Go for it

Smart move. I don't think anyone would think twice of going there checking out their inventory of cars compared to going to the Automall. Using this groupon type of advertising saves them from paying an agency to make their future commercials/campaigns/ads etc. Instead they'll provide this cheap service and actually get people into their showrooms. I'm sure their sales will more than make up for their oil change losses.

great deal, i'd probably opt for no wash if i were you guys though. maybe just vacuum

i've seen how their lot boys wash the cars, they use brushes (as most dealerships do, which is bad enough already) but i've seen them leave the brushes with the brush side on the floor, then pick it up and use it right on the body

i've even seen them use the same brush that they use on the wheels, on the body. multiple times

if you value your cars paint and don't want swirls, opt for no wash. if it doesn't matter to you then go for it, it's part of the deal anyway!
