| 2009 - 2010 Honda Fit RECALL
I'm sure all of you who own 2009 - 2010 Honda Fits are aware of the "Lost Motion Springs Recall" that was announced just a couple of months ago in February.
I'm still having an issue with my vehicle, which I believe may be related to this recall notice. I own a 2009 Honda Fit (Sport Edition) with a manual transmission. Approximately a month prior to Honda announcing the recall, I noticed that my vehicle would be more prone to stalling upon start-up in 1st gear. Does this "stall" problem sound like what the recall was for? I don't know what a "lost motion spring" problem would feel like when driving a car affected by this.
Anyway, I bring in my vehicle for a B1 (routine) servicing and also to replace this problem part, as my car was one that was recalled.
After I picked up my car, the paper work showed that everything was done - and in a timely manner. I drove home and noticed that the car's performance/drivability was improved. The car wasn't trying to stall in 1st gear anymore.
A couple of days later, I hear an odd "pop" sound from somewhere on the car, as I was driving 10km/h in a well-paved alleyway. The 1st gear problem then kicked back in.
Now, is this just coincidental of the recall problem or is my car still affected by this recall? If it isn't related, would you Fit/auto mechanic gurus please let me know if it could be another problem, totally unrelated? My senses lean toward a poorly-executed recall fix and that it needs to be looked at again.
I also failed to mention that the car feels like stalling in 1st gear during the first... 10 minutes of driving (i.e.: when the car isn't fully warmed up (But, nowadays, I didn't think warming up was necessary for city driving.)). I have 17,000kms racked up on the car and have NOT changed any of my driving habits. Why this problem?
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated. I will, of course, contact my dealership, but they are closed for the evening and I don't have the patience to wait for answers.
TIA.

I had a buddy with a 2001 GTI go in for the same coil pack recall three times because the issue with them kept re-occurring, maybe you can go back and have the recall performed again.

So you're saying that the stalling problem on my car is definitely related to the "lost motion springs" recall?
I hope so.

I hope so. | If the same problem is happening again, even after the recall has been performed, it's probable.

your situation could be due to the recall as the failed part increases the chance of engine stalling. I have an 09 fit as well, but have never experienced any stalling tendency. I have not gone in for my recall yet.
Where did u get the recall done, EM1? any issues incorrect valve adjustments afterwards?

Where did u get the recall done, EM1? any issues incorrect valve adjustments afterwards? | I brought my car in to Middlegate Honda (now called OpenRoad Honda, I believe) - just east of Metrotown.
Whatever the problem is with my car, it is now worse than ever, and I really hope that warranty covers any necessary repairs to remedy this. This thing is less than two years old with 17,000kms and proper/timely servicing done only at the dealership.
Valve adjustments? I know that it's a part of the recall procedure for them to adjust, but I'm not experienced enough to notice any difference with that.
Oh well, I'll deal with them tomorrow morning. Thanks, you two, for the input.

recall was done today at Vancouver Honda. Car now drives with less valve train chatter noise during acceleration. There is only one missing small plastic clip that i'm aware of. The cowl cover seems to be secured and intact after having it removed for the recall.
Total time was less than 4 hours. Maybe closer to 3.
