Yeah, I guess my dilemma is
I think the $499 one is the DC26.. and it's a little small.
For DC23s, there is:
DC23 Multi Floor (Standard head): $549
DC23 Turbinehead animal: $599
DC23 Motorhead: $649
DC23 Motorhead Animal: $749

I know I don't need the motorhead animal, so i'm deciding between multi floor, turbine and motor head. i just dont know how much more effective the motor vs the turbine is.

Apprently the motorhead is a lot better on carpet, to help you choose. We got 1 DC 23 motorheadleft, 2 dc23 turbinehead animal. And 3 dc23 all floors, 3 dc23 motorhead animal. We also have a dc22 motorhead and have u looked into a dc26 all floors, it is a smaller version of the dc23 all floors

After taxes and everything the turbine all floors will be about 380 and the motorhead would be 475. Honestly I'd go for the motorhead because it is better and if I'm already paying almost 400, might aswell pay a little more for the better one. You will be using this for years anyways.

I think you should maybe come in today or tom and take a look at them, the motorhead has the ball technology , it is a lot easier to use and move around.

Thanks for the tips. The DC26 looked a bit small, so I'm gonna stick to a DC23.
I went to the HO in Lansdowne, so I was able to play with them a little bit and get a feel for size and usage; couldn't turn them on though :(
Lansdowne is much closer to me, so unless you get a commission or something, i'll probably just stay in Richmond.

For the friends & family event, what happens if the vacuum you want isn't in stock? Would they issue a raincheck?

No rainchecks, show up at 4 at queensborogh and you'll most likely get the stock because no one really knows about it starting at 4.

Update: Ended up getting the DC23 turbinehead animal from Queensborough. Hope I don't regret not getting the DC23 motorhead...

I also signed up for a HBC Mastercard today so I got 20% off instead of just 15 (in addition to the $150 discount on Dysons).

Update: I ended up getting the DC23 Motorhead from Lansdowne, got the last one.. whew.
I was thinking about the turbinehead animal.. but I just sprang for the extra $50 bucks.

After using the dyson last night, it was amazing how much dirt i picked up off what i thought was an already clean carpet.. thanks for the tips everyone!

Yeah first thing I did was vacuum dirtiest room with old vacuum, then re-do the floor with Dyson. :)

The engineers really put a lot of thought into designing this thing.

On the topic of Dyson a bit off-topic, have u guys seen the fanless fan? how does it work?

Araaadi 05-03-2011 07:40 PM

Hey Gumby, sorry i couldn't give you a call, my account was closed for a while. I was right behind you in line with the icecream and ottoman. I believe you bought the animal motorhead for 749.99? not the turbine? Either way, im glad you got a dyson and enjoying it.

The dyson fan is pretty much blades inside the base. The blades make the air circulate threw the circle. Its pretty much a fan with mini blades for u not to put ur fingers in. It works pretty well, to be honest, its not worth the money. Even with all the special deals i get from work, It is not worth it at all.

But have you seen their hand dryers? They are fucking amazing. I was at lougheed , there was one in the washroom there. It works wonders.

Haha no prob. Yep I saw you!

Actually I got the animal motorhead first, brought it to my car, and thought - maybe it's a bit overkill... So I brought it back immediately and exchanged it for the turbine for $599. :)

Eatman 05-07-2011 11:59 AM

Araaadi 05-07-2011 01:02 PM

Yea, the 15% was for family n friends only. But you could of got 20% if u signed up for an hbc creditcard that day. You could still get 20% for signing up for a cc, but no $150 off. Ill see what I can pull off, maybe I can get you $150 off plus 10%
