I just started my 6.5 week practicum for autobody at a shop, its amazing how easy shit can get replaced. If its nicked in a couple places or theres a tear in it they usually replace. By the time paint and materials and labor add up its usually quite a bit.
my front bumper ALONE is 1200$ from lexus... the grille is another 400$.
the headlamps without ballasts or levelling motors are 400$ a peice, ballast 120$ bulb 100$ motor another 120$ x2 fogs are 400$, a new rad is 600$ shit adds up real quick for OEM parts, heck even used parts are $$$$$
the price isnt really that great. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...323369752.html
heres one and its from dealership and lower KM
i mean if there were better choices out there why get a car with 6k damage when you can get one with no accident for same or better price.
Yah thx for input. Trying to find a TL replacement in a cuv. I've had an 08 Rdx before but couldn't adjust to the rough truck suspension. But am willing to give it another go.
Has to be 08-09 tech. Some of the CL postings are boring base models. 07 did not have mem seats. 2010+ features hideous grill.
Call acura and ask how much a headlight costs. Then ask how much a bumper costs. I bet thats $3000 without paint right there.
Now if you had your Brand new acura's bumper damaged, would you bondo it and paint it? Or replace it to make it perfect? Especially if icbc is paying for it.............
if the airbags were replaced, that is also a very big price hike.
my sisters old acura el (rip to that car)
before it got written off for a tree falling on it, it was in an accident that was not THAT seriously, but definitely no bumper to bumper.
bumpers, headlights, hood, and radiator replaced. Front two airbags replaced. For a car thats basically a honda civic with an acura badge on it, the claim was pushing $15,000. It was repaired properly. We had no issues what so ever with the car before it left the family.
As noted, as long as it was done right, but the appropriate shop. It should be okay, given the price of the vehicle is also cheaper than one with a clean record.
information, recepts, or even details of where the collision repair was done is also good info. I dont know if its stays with one owner, or if it transfers over but ICBC repair fascilities are supposed to guarantee their work for the life of the vehicle. Unless ofcourse another accident occurs.

My drivers door handle, lock cylinder, and paint for the drivers door came to $1800 on my 01 A4.. Once you get into more expensive cars, OEM shit AIN'T cheap. =]
