Rdx with $6000 collision

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/nv...320630013.html

But no frame dmg. Am thinking about this but $6000 is quite
A bit. Thoughts? Price is probably very negotiable.

As long as it drives straight and it was repaired properly then it isn't really an issue IMO

It's best if you check with the owner and see what were the repairs. Numbers really don't speak much. My car got into an accident that wasn't too serious, but the repair came close to $10k.

check history on it as to whether or not the $6000 amount is from culminative claims or just a single one, then see if you can obtain the specifics of what was replaced.

parts aren't cheap these days, and they can rack up quickly even if it's only a few items.

same my bmw was involved in a 8000$ crash but more than half of it was labor for paint(they repainted door, quarter panel, rear bumper and hood for colormatching), nothing important was damaged, just a crumpled quarter panel and door and minor suspension damage which they replaced new.

my brother slid on snow, lowspeed on g35 to a curb. bill came out to be 900$ but of that 900, 750$ was the oem rim ordered from japan.

so it all depends on what kind of damage/repairs were done.

6k collision isn't much for a car that new, especially if it was repaired with oem Honda parts, and most of that 6k probably went towards labor. As long as it wasn't hit in the front I would consider it.

Regardless of whether the owner repaired the car with OEM parts or not, 6g's is still a lot of damage.

How many of you out there is driving a car with a single-collision accident @ 6g's???

i'm confused how

gets failed and

gets thanked.

its all about who and how the repairs were done. i've got an 05 f150 that i bought in 08 with 15k in repairs (not a salvage) the repairs were done right (i had them checked) and to this day i've never once had any problems.

edit: and for the post above it was a single accident, front left, probably head on all airbags were replaced.

I got scuff mark on my front bumper and rear bumper (something that could be polished out) from a driver that cut me off....MBZ didnt even repaint; they replaced. Total bill was 4500 with paint.

If the dealership has the repair bill and/or pics of the original damage, you can assess if the damage was too great or not. If they provide neither, I would just keep looking....the price is not that good....I am selling my 09 RDX with 40K kms in October....if you are interested.....

$6K isn't really a lot. If he had an APV286 (replacement policy) it would get all OEM Acura parts. The last one of these I repaired I believe the headlights were around $700 each. the bumper is probably close to $600. the grill is at least $300-$400. When you add in the paint and labour it adds up pretty quickly.

like others have said...$6000 isn't much nowadays

My oem windshield had a 2" crack and it costs $1500+ to replace
Each headlight housing including all the bulbs and parts cost over $1500

So if someone were to smash my windshield and 2 headlights, the parts alone would cost $4500 + labor.

to reshape the rear fender + door and a new bumper after a slight side collision on a new C Class is about 9k so 6k isnt too bad. Just depends on where the 6k went to.

Even if it was a top quality repair with oem parts and drives like new, a $6k hit can be a turn off for potential buyers should you decide to sell it in the future.

like others have said, 6k$ isnt alot for a newer car. In the end just keep in mind if your going to resell it again or not. If you are some people may be turned away with previous accidents and and resell value may be little lower.

i had a accident a while back

other drivers damage
http://www.revscene.net/forums/showp...89&postcount=1

my damage
http://www.revscene.net/forums/showp...8&postcount=26

damage was about 5k..
6k isnt much, specially for higher end cars (parts more expensive to replace) Specially if repaired under ICBC, body shops inflate cost.

I guess what' I'm tryin to tell the OP is that 6g's is just a big turnoff to a lot of buyers. If you think 6gs is nothing more than a replaced rear bumper + some extra body work, then sure go for it.

OP were you thinkin of getting a car for keeps? or to sell, say in 4 years?
It will definitely be tough to sell a 6 year old car with a ICBC claim of 6g's.

$6000 is not much. Previous owner had front end damage on my CSX, apparently the HID headlights were $2000 a pair. No frame damage just bumper cover and hood

Someone hit my old BMW 330 when I got it new. It was a very light hit. Broke the bumper clip, scuffed it badly but cracked the headlamp lens.

Basically front bumper repaired + new driver side headlamp.

That costed ICBC $3K+

The headlamp alone was like $1500.

6K although is alot, but parts nowadays are so expensive. Someone side swiped my old SUV and that was like 6K in damage. All they did was repainted the whole passenger side and replace a running board and side mirror.
