Best Shampoo for colored hair? Hey, Revsceners, I'm posting this for my friend. All I ask for those to provide serious and mature responses, or else if you just here to bash, please don't reply in that matter. My buddy wants to get his hair dyed, and was wondering what products he should use so his color won't come off. I told him that most shampoo products not only alter color, but may also remove it entirely. (I wasn't 100% sure) So to those who've actually colored their hair before, what products would you recommend to my friend? Thanks in advance! Nintensity |
Shit I was gong to ask the same thing! I dye my hair bright red, and after a few weeks, it turns pink. I have tried various brands, to no avail. The best thing I tried is to wash with shampoo less often, especially at the beginning. If you just use conditioner, you won't even see the co our rinse off |
^^ I also tried to wash with shampoo less often..but sometimes it only last for at least 2-3 weeks before it starts to fade....I'm also curious whats the best color shampoo to used...bump for suggestions! |
If ur dying blonde. I hear "purple" shampoo is awesome Posted via RS Mobile |
well i'm dying my hair purple or blue. not all of my hair though. so i would have to start out with blonde first then colors. i'll look into that purple shampoo you suggested... any other suggestions people...? |
I use Burt's Bees, Colored Hair formula. It's an organic, PH Balanced brand (so if he has any scalp problems, it'll help with that too) and seems to work better than most other, harsher forumulas. Also, only shampoo every other day (though I often condition every day, especially with newly dyed hair). You want to stay away from things like Head and Shoulders and a lot of men's shampoos because they are pretty heavy with the detergents. I don't dye my hair any crazy colors but those lose their vibrancy faster no matter what you do. If he sticks to something closer to a natural hue that doesn't require him to bleach his hair first it should stick around longer. Also, if his hair is fairly short, he should be prepared to so a root touch up every 3 - 4 weeks, depending on how fast it grows. |
Redken Color Extend Shampoo + Conditioner. It's one of the top selling color safe salon brands. But what everyone else said above is true. If you choose a vibrant color it will most likely fade in a couple of weeks. Blue turns to a shade of green pretty quickly. |
I dyed my hair in a salon half a year ago and every 2-3 months the roots after that. Other than the fact that my hair is damaged, apparently the color still shines since people still say they like my color under the sun. I always ask people to bring the shampoo for me from Asia, don't think it's sold here? it's called Mod's Hair. |
i use nioxin. its not toooo bad! |
Moroccan oil, good stuff! |
My gf uses John Frieda. But best way is to just cut down on washing it, or when doing it cut down on the shampoo. |

satinique color capture series |
don't use nioxin. It's formulated for older people's hair. Sebastian Penetrait is great. If you want the color to last a long time, talk to a salon specialist and invest in a good quality salon shampoo. The store shampoos are full of fillers and wax and are not good for the hair. |
Nioxin is for anyone with thin hair, not just "older people" :lol |
