dhari 11-27-2011 10:06 AM

Nicely done.

2.0L turbo and only 200hp? fuck that shit.

Honda had 220hp with 2.0L NA engine more than a decade ago.
or 250hp out of 2.0L NA for S2000 back in 1999.

Also Nissan Silvia had 250hp out of 2.0L too...it was way more than a decade a go. Like 15 years ago??

It needs at least 300hp for today's standard.

euro style tailights... :fulloffuck:

My frds at Revozport will be launching a whole line of carbon fiber stuff for the 86 and BRZ

stfu, you said you placed a order for a 2013 3series sport too.

Energy 11-27-2011 10:30 AM

I think it looks good actually. Its a modern FR. Classic shape with modern touches but not overdone like the front of the new genesis coupe.

It's really light too (I think ~2,500lbs) and has a low center of gravity so even with just 200hp you can have lots of fun with it.

Dinan3 11-27-2011 11:17 AM

I think this car will look really good after lowering it an inch or two. Finally Toyota is coming out with something sporty. This car has way better styling than a Civic Si (coupe or sedan).

see.lai 11-27-2011 11:17 AM

I am really not digging the back lights, and the subaru style steering wheel. It looks really cramped at the back as well. The concept photos looked better when it was a year ago.

DirtySanchez 11-27-2011 11:47 AM

Have to see in person to be 100% sure if i like it, but its not too bad from pics.

It's an N/A engine. There's more to a car than straight line power. You should compare this to an MX-5 because it's just as small (weigh about 200lb more) and I don't see anybody complaining about the MX-5.

Bolt-ons tubos isn't out of the question though.

donjalapeno 11-27-2011 12:08 PM

its obviously a race to see who can make the best 2.0T....first it was vdub then hyundai and now toyota.....i wouldnt be suprised if nissan and honda played too.

why would someone buy a sports car with 200hp nowaday. A hyundai genesis coupe > this AE86 wannabe.

I think the price will be the key thing to attract buyers. I think with the horsepower that it has, this car is likely to start at $25,995 or something.

let's also note that this car is smalllll. it's only 1~2 inches longer than the original AE86.

TjAlmeida 11-27-2011 12:42 PM

Is there any news on price range in Canada?

Not sure why everybody is doubting this car.

The original AE86 was never fast but it has a capability of out-handling so many other cars. The chassis was rigid and perfect for drifting or track racing. And that 4A-GE's redline isn't exactly low. It's quite up there. If you don't drive the car beyond 3000rpm, you should have no say.

And let's not forget cars like the Toyota MR-S. People think it's slow (yeah it sort of is) but will outhandle most of your cars and its braking abilities are amazing. Throw in a 2ZZ-GE and you've got some competition with other cars in its class.

Oh yeah, everybody laughed at the Miata. Everybody is jumping on the bandwagon buying one now. Every other car or two at AutoX is now a Miata.

It seem to be tough finding the official weight of the car - some say it's higher at 2700-2800 lbs. I'll be quite surprised if they can get it down to 2500..

eurochevy 11-27-2011 12:56 PM

diggin the sti style interior though, but everything else including engine specs is meh

Ludepower 11-27-2011 02:05 PM

atleast I'll give props to Toyota for coming out with a new sporty model. Usually they dont make the company any money and more so for their image.

Honda killeded the type R, prelude, rsx, s2000, NSX all for the sake of money.

hk20000 11-27-2011 02:18 PM

I'm rather surprised that it's going to be straight up called the "86" tbh....Coz that's what I reckon they should do if they were to resurrect the AE86 when it was like 2003 when the first news of Toyota's plan to resurrect the car was on BestCar or some bs Japanese mags.... Something along the line of "why don't they just call it the 'Toyota Hachiroku' LOL"

And lo-and-behold there it is.

BEEB 11-27-2011 03:37 PM

Once Subaru drop in the STI engine into this thing, it will sell like hot cakes ! And you will easily see this thing with 350hp (stage II map) zooming in Richmond and end up in ditches !

dangonay 11-27-2011 03:39 PM

Light weight (if they meet their targets) and RWD make this an automatic winner. Getting sick of FWD only cars or AWD cars made from FWD cars.

0112358 11-27-2011 04:09 PM

so when is this coming to Canada / US if ever?

http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/cro...6-4_600x0w.jpg

so what's the deal ... is it going to be the same car from both subaru and toyota? subaru is promising 300hp though...

I change cars faster than you changing your dirty under wear

I also happened to ordered a Panamera GTS, GT3 RS 4.0, Still thinking if I should get the upgraded 2012 GTR

I should be getting at least 4 new cars in the 1/4 of 2012

bcrdukes 11-27-2011 06:34 PM

For fuck sakes, hyde!

SpuGen 11-27-2011 06:38 PM
