Being Canada, we might not even get the stripped down model to choose from.
But if we do...I really hope it's somewhere in the 22-24g range.
I'll buy one right away |

man the BRZ looks hella hot.......better than the FT-86 PRICING http://www.autoevolution.com/news/ed...r-s-40006.html Quote:
OK, we promise this is the last time we talk about these cars… for today at least. We don’t really know why, but the case for the trio of sportscars is getting very clear very fast, and we can’t wait to get our hands on one in order to find out what it’s like.
Earlier today, we learned that the Toyota FT-86 and presumably the Scion as well will only have 200 horsepower going to their back wheels. That might not sound like a lot, but the Big T has promised use a true performance machine, with a low slung center and reduced mass.
Now, thanks to Edmunds.com, we can put a price on very promising imperfection. The MSRP for the Scion, which is coming in the Winter 2012, should be $24,995. The Subaru BRZ will be only slightly more expensive at $25,300.
There’s no point in extrapolating these prices to the Euro or Japanese Yen, as these will be much different, but it’s clear Toyota wants to undercut even hothatches.

+1 for gold BBS with WRB
how much does the STI go for? $45k in Canada? I doubt they'll price it under $33K for the BRZ
probably a great deal to import used from US

i doubt the stripped trim will come to NA

so 25k US,
which means it will be around 35k msrp here in canada
it would be worth it to import it from the states for sure,
I am going to wait for a turbo model though, or wait until someone comes out with a turbo kit for it,
200hp is weak as shit, probably wont even make the car fun to drive

200HP and 151 ft pounds of torque at 6600 RPM's.
That engine better be putting 150.99 ft pounds at 2000... Quote:

I see you haven't talked to any Scion owners, or been in the states.
When someone asks you what car you drive, and you say " Scion FR-S", most people will not look further than the word Scion.
A Scion is a typical douche bags car, especially in the states. Usually a high school student in their senior year that thinks their car is the best thing ever.
I recommend that you fly down there and meet the Scion kids.

If youre really that insecure over a few badges, maybe you should ask yourself WHO you're buying the car for. Take a look at Miata owners, do you think they would give up their affordable/light/agile car so their feelings wont get hurt by some redneck yelling HURF DURF GAY CAR?

I wonder what the torque curve will look like? Seems like a low torque but high redline type of engine.
Weight is nice too.

I recommend that you fly down there and meet the Scion kids. | That's what Scion caters to, younger adult. Hello Project Genesis? You've got problem with the car because of the badge? Loosen up a little.
It's only your perception that "most people will not look further". Most people could give a fuck what car you drive unless it's some exotic.
Anyways. Subaru spec leaked. Quote:
While searching the Internet for something new on the most important trio of sportscars to arrive in a long time, we came across this magazine scan on the FT-86 Club forum. While the image you see is very close to an actual production form of the Subaru BRZ, it’s just a very good rendering, but what’s really interesting is that German publication Auto Bild seems to have had a test drive with a prototype and it got a four star rating.
According to the car magazine, the BRZ will hit European showrooms in May next year and will sell for €30,000, which is a lot more than the $25,300 that it’s expected to cost in the US. However, there aren’t any real competitors that offer a rear-wheel drive focused chassis for that kind of money, and we’re also confident it will sell well.
Auto Bild says the biggest downside to the 2+2 coupe is that the interior quality isn’t all that great, and the materials look cheap. However, the most important facts they revealed is that the BRZ has 209 HP, not 200 like the FT-86, despite using the same 2.0-liter boxer engine. The unit also produces 230 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, and we think this has something to do with the difference between US and European versions of the car, not just between Toyota and Subaru.
The 213 HP is apparently enough to push the BRZ from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds (yes, that’s six seconds flat) and on to a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph). That sounds a bit like next-gen hothatch performance, but the developers of the car did say the were fed up with the top speed war and were focusing on driving feel instead.

I haven't seen any written info on the braking set up? looks like it might be a standard 2-pot brake caliper set up on the front, and TRD is making 4-pot calipers available.

^ for a 1200kg car that's plenty generous. Look at my 1400kg Accord with single front piston and rear drum brakes.

Yes master of mechanical genius. You are correct had they gone for something more reasonable like 9:1 in NA form would have been much better right? Quote:

that doesnt make any sense, how can a 2 litre with direct port injection and 12.5 compression,
make less horsepower than a 1.8 litre 11.5 compression itr motor?
something almost seems off?
also that means we will hafto use premium fuel,
I very much like the body style and concept of this car,
if the motor and horsepower output werent such shit I would buy one,
