Did i just get "Ripped Off" or is this "Legit"??
 

Hey guys, I had my car impounded for 7 days on Apr. 14th at around 3am in the morning for speeding. Yes speeding, I'm an Idiot. Anyways, I picked up my car at midnight today (Apr. 22nd) at 12am. Now what I was wondering is why I was charged for 9 days of storage ($22/day) on-top of the the Tow and F.S.C (whatever that is)?

They told me the day the car gets towed in does not count for the 7 days, therefore, they cannot release the car to me till the 22nd. Sure.

What I don't understand is why I got charged for 9 days? Sure if you count the 14th-22nd, there are infact 9 days, but i literally was there at 12am to pick up my car, so technically it was only there for 8 days, RIGHT??

So the question is.... did i just get "Ripped Off" or is this "Legit"??

shrug.. just pay it and thank your friends and family your car is not going thru civil forfeiture. :troll:

it doesn't count for the punishment of the impounding but it counts for the time it's been sitting @ the lot

its just like a hotel if you check out after the check out time it gets counted as an extra day/half day

22 is cheap... i paid $36 per day..

i think they count it 9 days .....

i paid for 9 days last time i got towed for 7 days

sucks that you got towed and impounded but it coulda been worse

And at least the tow company didn't fuck up your car by towing it the wrong way or scratching it.

Thank you all for your input. And yes, I am aware that things could have been worst. I suppose this is legit but seems kinda like a money grab to me.

Car got impounded April 15 00:50am in the morning.

They wont release until april 23.

I don't believe they have the right to hold my car for more than 168 hours.
The day impounded doesn't count policy is bullshit, like if ur car got impounded at 11:59pm, you don't hv to wait an extra day.

First thing i did was to call Buster politely to explain my situation, i got yelled
"get your number straight" and cutted the phone. Sorry man , who didn't get the number straight? i got impounded for FULL seven days plus 23 hours, as oppose to "FULL seven day" stated on the ticket.

Secondly, i called VPD to file a complain for my situation, they kindly asked me to dispute it with ICBC.

Also, i filed a complain with ARA ( Automotive Retailers Assosiation ) , the assosiation buster is in.

i hope that works out, i really hate busters

Yup, good luck with that. Guess they can get away with it, because most people are to lazy to do anything about it. In my case to much work just to get back the $22. But sumtimes it more about the principle.

i believe once it hits 12:00am it counts as a new day. I can't remember which towing company i had to get my car back from, but i called the guy and he said come before midnight b/c if i come after it will count as another day. so if you went at midnight or a few minutes after you might have gotten charged an extra day from that.

Just be thankful you weren't born *handicapped*, thats how i look at unfortunate mishaps through life.

That's just great. You're a real asshole, you know that? I can tell you haven't had to live 23 years in a family with someone who is disabled.

I meant to say handicapped and i'm not making fun of someone in that postion whatsoever, Thats what i meant and shouldnt have used taht word So Lighten up!
