VW MK6 GTI- BOV? i was told that the GTI's cant be fitted with a BOV? is this true? or are there just fewer selections when it comes to blow off valves? The whole VW concept is new to me since i'll most likely be picking up the 2011 GTI 2.0t in the next month or so. People who own the new MK6's, how have you liked it so far? Any major issues with the car? and did you go with leather or cloth seats? And are aftermarket parts easy to get a hold of locally? or mostly online? |
The GTI can be fitted with a BOV but some say it will not run well as the car was designed to run a DV. If you want "super cool" BOV noise a Forge spacer may satisfy your needs, i've had one and took it off because the sound got annoying, check it out on youtube. Everything you'd need to know is here www.golfmk6.com |
What this guy said ^. The TSI/FSI motors do not use BOVs. DV is what you want. |
Vdubs are awesome....my sister has one ( mk5 GLI) and two of my buddies just recently bought mk6 GTI's and have had no problems and love everything about it. Oh and here is a website where you can modify your mk6 and get ideas http://www.dubmodder.com/app/MK6/MK6.php |
The dubmodder site is only for looks... and is a bit of a joke. Go to GolfMk6.com for info and local meets. Lots of parts available locally... but cheaper via the States, as always. |
rather than getting a forge spacer (sounds really terrible and prone to leaks) or a HKS bov, invest the money into an intake and an upgraded DV. i have one for sale if you're interested LOL |
Sounds like you'll need to get a chip or reflash for it to run properly. |

an intake should open up the sound to hear your DV go "whoosh!", like a BOV. that's the way it was for the 1.8T, so I assume the same applies for the 2.0T |
whats DV? LOL |

nah no chip is needed to make an intake or dv work. most aftermarket diverter valves are vacuum regulated. the oem newest revision is electronically regulated. The forge DV is the most popular one. Best intake on the market for the sound would be either the Forge Twintake (2 carbon enclosed canister) or the Evoms intake (giant mushroom filter cone) |
but those are generally about $400 + |
good to know vdub604. i do plan on doing some basic boltons such as APRflash, intake, Forge DV, downpipe, and coilovers. anyone know a good dealer locally for aftermarket parts? |
PG Performance, Shift Autosport, etc. I have a Forge Twintake for sale if you're interested. Also an exhaust. And coilovers. Hahaha. |
I own a MKv GTI, There are BOV's for VW's but just a fewer selection. If your really interested look up Forge Spacers BOV. But to be honest, these BOV's make an artificial sound that doesnt sound normal. Thats jsut my opinion tho. |
theres a guy that retrofit a HKS SSQV...cool sound but all show no go like everyone already said |
Got the umpteenth time since I've been on RS: BOV's are useless garbage. Making a poor engineering choice in how your engine operates and trading that for "noise" is beyond stupid. |
