| Help Build PC
As the title states.
Can someone look at building a custom PC - Roughly $500. Tax not included.
My Aunt's been using the Same PC since 2003 and wants a change. Her main uses are Web/Email/Solitare/Pictures Storage.
Can someone help with a build.
I've went around and looked @ a couple of PCs.
These ones looks decent? http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58005&...Entra%20series http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...ilionamdath-en
I don't know jack about computer stuff anymore, any help would be apperciated. She's doesn't need a monitor or anything just a PC.

Just reinstall windows for her.
My wife has my old single-core PC from 2006 which now runs on Windows 7. She only uses it to browse the web and for light office work and it's plenty fast.
Your aunt probably installed loads of crap on her computer which made it appear to be slower than it is over the years.

E5800 for Web/Email.
3GB RAM for Solitare.
500GB HDD for pictures.
$100 for Gt-R R34's setup services.
= $500
Done.

If you are tech savvy you can skip the OS all together and get a cracked version. With the money saved you can upgrade it to a quad core though i doubt she'll need the extra power. If you're lucky you may even be able to use the RAM from the old computer on this new one.

PC in 2003 is like AMD-XP or something.
Take away the Win7, 500gb, PSU and DVD rom...it's around $255.
Put the old stuff back in and keep the rest of the change lol

just put an ssd in that pc then install windows again. then youll notice the difference. if not then you can keep the ssd for yourself then get a 500 dollar computer.

just get those pre built pc form Best buy/futureshop and remove all the crap they install.
If your aunt only use it for web surfing, facebook etc etc... you get get her those $400 to $500 with monitior and it will do fine.

which one ? | SSD is not the ultimate solution to boost speed.
slow CPU + little ram + SSD is a bad combination.
I tried putting a non-sandforce SSD on a P4-M laptop w/ 512mb before, it was waste of money. Loading multi-webpages still take a long time. Later I added another stick of 1GB and same CPU with higher stock speed. ![woohoo](images/smilies/woot.gif)
Day and night difference, even without SSD.

i find this site pretty useful. you won't have to spend the extra bit on the gpu he suggests either, if you go for a higher tier build, since the system won't be doing any gaming.

I just ordered a new computer for my dad's business, for the time and effort, and especially if you factor in buying a legit copy of windows, a ~$500 Dell is tough to beat.
