I drove one from the dealership but I find it to be a marketing hoax.
the extremely unlikely good fuel economy they always advertise everywhere is for the HWY. Of course you are going to get good fuel economy when the last 3 gears are faster than 1:1.
Now factor in the fact that you are in Vancouver and you are not very likely to reach highway speeds and stay there, I'd get around in my CVT shifted Cube and be laughing at the pump.
I have a lot of room in the back for the baby, or even for making babies too.

the ECO has over 50 changes made including thinner seam welds in non critical places to acheive the 220Lb drop over the base turbo model. Not just an option to add on, although you could add some of the options for a lot of money i suppose.
I got it because it was the only manual trans 1.4turbo available

Im interested in getting this because of the 5 start crash rate and the 10 airbags. My wife is 5 months pregnant and we need to upgrade her 98 honda accord v6. Plus with the 6 months no payments and 0% financing right now its a pretty sweet deal.

Went in for a test drive last week. Pretty solid car. Interior looks amazing as well. Definitely a good car for it's price range. I think I got quoted the same price as the Versa as well.

I was never a fan of domestic cars. But the cruze is a really nice car. I would buy one over a corolla or civic any day. I dont know if it's just me but Japanese cars are just lacking in this price segment. Posted via RS Mobile |

oh yea, this thread.
I'm at about 11k kms and still loving it. no problems yet, I average about 7L/100 around town (but I have a huge hill to deal with) I get under 6L/100 on the sea to sky and closer to 5/100 once I hit burnaby.
with the baby in her reverse mounted seat there is very little room up front, only complaint!

^You couldn't even fit one in the back of the new Focus. They totally messed up the interior space on that car.
The Elantra looks awesome on paper, but try taking one out for a spin. Hyundai put out a mini-test drive event awhile back (a mini circuit in the mall parking.) I test drove the new Elantra (auto), Accent (manual), and the 1.6i NA Veloster (manual). The clutch was really hard to modulate, the brakes have very little feedback, and the shifter is terrible. The engine wasn't very eager to rev. I am sure people who are shopping in this class can careless. If you want a solid A-B car, I would take the new Corolla over the Elantra. The Corolla may have a 10 yr old engine, but they've refined it even more for 2012, and the extra thick glass all-around helps with noise isolation.
I was really amazed by the driving dynamics and NVH of the Cruze LT. The Cruze matches my MK6 Golf for interior refinement and noise isolation (the quiestest in the class when it came out), and I honestly think the Cruze has a better ride/handling characteristic than the Golf.
