went to rogers today to check it out today...omg soo light and thin...i want!!!! |
Picked it up earlier today. The phone is amazing. The specs may not seem much, but the software is good, and thus even with lower end specs, it pretty much blows anything android I've used as of late. No lag, screen is on par with iPhone 4, light, thin, great great phone, RIM finally has something to compete with |
Is it really gonna be worth the money?! My current Curve is old as shit, and I really need a new phone :( I'm super tempted just to buy a Bold 9780. That seems to be a stable, decent phone... or should I hold off?? |
yes hold off it's a huge jump between the 9780 and the 9900 Posted via RS Mobile |
^ agreed. I've had a lot of time with the 9780, the 9900 is leaps and bounds above. |
Sounds good, I guess I'll hold off for a bit. Thanks  |
Dont even bother with 97xx , 9900 is a whole new level of Blackberrysexness. This phone is probably what RIM needs to bounce back into the market after hurting so much in the recent months with people leaving and layoffs. And this is just the beginning Q1 of 2013, QNX will be the base OS of all the next generation of Blackberrys. I'm in love with this phone and man does it feel fucking nice holding it, typing on it, and the touch screen along with the liquid graphics is phenomenal , unlike anything RIM has ever produced. Words can't justify how much of an improvement this phone is compared to the 97xx devices, go to a store and try it out yourself and you will be dying to have one. If that doesnt convince you, here is my what i have up my sleeve... BBM STALKING AT ITS FINEST. |
wow thought it was coming out september! damn i need to get my hands on this asap. im coming from a torch then it broke so im using a storm2 atm, so this should be worth the upgrade |
Yeah, my Curve 8330 has been a work horse. Hasn't let me down once. But it is beyond time to upgrade! I hated the Torch when it came out, as I can't stand slider phones. C'mon Telus!!! Get your shit together and release the 9900!! I wonder... will it be better/easier to order the phone through Telus, or gamble with a store? |

I went around and Wireless Wave, the first Rogers store, Futureshop told me that it wouldn't be released for weeks. Best Buy and the second Rogers store had them for sale. After my purchase I decided to hit up telus and bell store in the same mall to see if they had cases for it, and both stores had no clue what I was talking about. |
Dont bother going to the store, just call in , save you some gas cause thats what i did. |
Has anyone unlocked this phone yet, I'm really tempted to go buy one tomorrow but want to make sure that it will work on fido without any problems, if anyone could provide some input it would be great  Posted via RS Mobile |
It won't be a problem , I'm with fido and i bought mine today and unlocked today too. I use http://www.instantblackberryunlockco...p-unlock-code/ Coupon code: CRACKBERRY |

That site has instant unlock codes once you pay, just call in your local retailer before you go in and ask if you can reserve one. I got mine today at the one on Bridgeport, 615.99 is the buyout. |

One thing i forgot to mention about the place i bought mine, they only take Credit/Debit cards. |
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3276738_n.jpg I GOT IT!! MUAHAHA sick phone.. big hardware/software upgrade over 9700. The build quality/durability of the phone itself seems to have fallen from the 9700. I liked how I could toss around my 9700. In other words, the aluminium trim seems too fragile.. prone to nasty dents and scratches if dropped. i'd be afraid to drop this phone as much as i would an iphone 4. the carbon fibre battery cover is quite tacky\cheap. I'd rather have a nice leather back case like in previous blackberry models for the grip for in hand and on flat surgace especially when using the touch screen. Just my two cents. other than that this phone is AWESOME. Loyal Blackberry fans, rejoice! Iphone/Android bandwagoners GTFO! |
Build quality worse than the 9700? Great.. |
the 9700 was built like a brick mines been through 6+ keypads + 3-4 housings and still works like new |
I wouldn't say its built like shit I think it feels really durable in the hand and what not. My 9780 was built like shit very plasticky feeling such as the bezel was made out of plastic. Over all my new 9900 is awesome and the stainless steel bezel on the 9900 is premium compared to the plastic of the 9780! bought mine outright in langley for $616.00 rogers authorized dealer |

I actually feel the other way; I think the build quality has gone up The band around the phone is very iPhone-esq, very sturdy Keyboard felt delicate at first, but the more I type, the more robust it feels I agree though that the carbon fibre back is a little tacky; but I remember hearing a rumour that it's due to a leather back getting too hot And the screen is amazing; I used to feel jealous of my gf's iphone4 screen, but this one is just as good. The phone has also shown no lag so far The web browser is also great, matching my previous androids' performance, although the lack of flash support has been a bummer If any one wants to know anything specific lemme know! |
The metal bezel sounds good because the plastic on the 9780 is crap, or at least mine is. Any double key input issues with the 9900 keyboard? |
To my knowledge there isnt that problem right now, i've been reading up on Crackberry forum and no one has posted anything about that. |
