I doubt it.. if you're gonna go to the night market, you might as well go to JP or the guy above him, Bill Tan. If not.. Bold 9900 - CrackBerry Canada

How much is the phone when you do a hardware upgrade?

InteGSR-99 08-15-2011 08:37 PM

Any of you having back button issues with your 9900? I've had this problem a few times now. Whenever I press the back button, it takes me to the screen where it shows what programs I have running. Pulling the battery and resetting it fixes this but that's annoying. Anyone know how to fix this? My 9900 is under Rogers if that helps.

TIA

It bugs me how there's no theme available for the 7.0 OS yet!

Any of you guys try to scratch off the rogers branding with a penny?

6insomnia9 08-16-2011 07:16 PM

I kind of like the logo and I'm worried I will fack up

Telus ftw :D No logo bullshit on my phone.

I need to get a screen protector soon. Will that mess with the touchscreen you think??

I've actually been carrying my phone around inside an Oakley silk sunglasses case, when the phone is in my pocket.

And no back button issues for me yet.

Simplex123 08-16-2011 09:07 PM

^ I'm pretty sure a screen protector would be fine. It is a capacitive touch screen like iPhones/other Androids.

white lude 08-17-2011 06:03 AM

I had an issue with the back button. Someone else on crackberry had the same issues. It happens if you have an app open and put the phone in the holster. When you put the phone in the holster the alt button gets pressed as well as the touch screen which turns your back button into app switcher. press alt + shift and it should go back to normal. the way to prevent it is to lock your phone before putting in holster.

Don't! That only works for the 9800 Torch!

I started using the included holster for this exact reason now haha. That and its too pretty of a device to be stuffed into a pocket.

So then buy it, and when you want to upgrade sell it...? A year from now you could probably still get well over $300 if you keep it in good condition.

I think you mean QNX. It comes out Q1 2012 and should be a full touch screen from what I've heard so far. So if you want a full touch screen BlackBerry, wait for next year. In the mean time get a 9900/9810. It depends on the form factor you want as they have nearly identical specs (9810 will take a little better pictures as it has autofocus instead of 9900's EDOF camera).

I bought the RIM Soft Sheel Case for the 9900 and I like its texture (not rubber jelly) like the old one's but the lock button on the top is a bitch to press down! Very annoying

Since I started using my Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930 heavily I have run into an annoying bug 3-5 times a day. What happens is all of a sudden my 9930′s back button decides to no longer work as intended. Instead it opens up the multitasking app switcher you would normally get when holding down the BlackBerry "Menu" key for a few seconds. When this first started happening I thought it was only my phone and the only solution I could find was rebooting the phone. When this continued to happen I reached out to a few contacts I knew had Rogers 9900s and Verizon 9930s and asked if they were experiencing something similar. It turns out I was not alone…

I have multiple confirmations from Verizon users who are running into the bug with the official OS 7.0.0.254 though it seems to be fixed in the unofficial leak of OS 7.0.0.340. I also have confirmation from Rogers 9900 users that OS 7.0.0.261 had the bug but the leak of OS 7.0.0.317 fixed it. At this point I reached out to contacts at RIM and have been trying to help RIM’s software engineers pin down the problem since they have not been able to replicate it on their devices. I will continue to work with them to help fix it but until then I wanted to share a quick workaround for this issue that does not require a reboot.

To fix this "back button bug" on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 or 9930 all you need to do is hit the "Lock/Standby" key on the top of the 9900 or 9930. If you hit it twice to lock and unlock the screen you will get your normal back button functionality. Hopefully RIM will be able to fix this ASAP because it would be a real shame for such an annoying bug to be in the OS shipping with RIM’s awesome flagship BlackBerry Bold 9900 & 9930.

Let us know if you are having this issue and if this workaround fixes it! I will keep you up to date on what I hear from RIM.
anyone have this?

None of the current blackberrys are QNX.

The first devices running QNX OS will be in Q1 of 2012 as rumoured.

Play with the Playbook and you will see the difference.

wreck 08-18-2011 01:26 PM

arg.. so now i may hold off on the new current blackberrys, get an ip5 in october, then have the new qnx blackberrys come out 4 months later.
