Are there any places that have good prices for a honda ruckus?

jaemc 09-10-2011 08:45 AM

I got mine off craiglist! I thought there was a few for sale in the BUY/SELL section too. Did you want a brand new one or used?

bcrdukes 09-10-2011 12:15 PM

The Ruckus doesn't budge much on retail price. You are best looking for a used one on Craigslist.

double0seven 09-10-2011 05:53 PM

I was thinking new because I wouldn't have to worry about previous owners mistreating it.

Thanks for the comments guys, i'll start digging around craigslist. But where would be some places to get a ruckus brand new? Somewhere in Richmond would be nice lol.

DiiCii 09-10-2011 06:18 PM

damn! gerby's ruckus is sick! i want one now haha. pocket bikes are always fun too :D even though they're illegal on roads :okay: i used to have 5 xD this was the last one i had.. damn i miss it :(

The worst is that they crashed it (and it would be obvious) and they never did any maintenance (i.e. brakes, oil changes etc.) These modern scooters, in general, don't require much maintenance and are rarely mistreated. If in doubt, arrange a pre-purchase inspection with the owner at a reputable dealership/shop. :)

No Honda dealerships in Richmond as far as I'm aware. You'll have to head out to Carter Motorsports on Granville Island or The Honda Centre in Burnaby.

Buying a scooter new sucks because you're going to take a huge depreciation hit. In my experience, it's not worth it. Not to mention, it's currently a buyer's market so take advantage of that. :)

Culverin 09-10-2011 08:06 PM

+1 to the depreciation hit.
You can find some crazy deals.

As long as it's got fairly low mileage and hasn't missed any major maintenance schedules, then you're pretty much good to go.

FYI, fairings are hella expensive, mechanical parts are actually much cheaper to replace. To replace the main body plastics on my SR50 would be over $1000. I don't think all the performance parts I've dumped into it are even up there yet. So if you can't stand scratched fairings, make sure they are in good shape before you buy it.

bcrdukes 09-10-2011 08:53 PM

Just checked Honda Canada's website. The 09 Ruckus' are being sold off for $2,149. This is a pretty sweet deal considering most people are selling their 25,000km Ruckus' for $2500.

The 2011 models are $3,069. Not worth it, in my opinion.

bcrdukes 09-10-2011 10:23 PM

I forgot to mention - the break-in period for a scooter or motorcycle sucks ass. And for that, I will never buy a brand new scooter or bike - ever! :fuckthatshit:

im planning on picking up one of these to commute from east vancouver to richmond for work..
does anyone have any experience on DD'ing one of these things to and from richmond using the knight street bridge?

bcrdukes 09-12-2011 12:27 AM

^
They're fine. Traffic on Knight Street usually steady or jammed up so it's fine. You have to maintain speed @ 60km/h the whole way.

jaemc 09-12-2011 09:19 AM

Lemme know once u guys grab one! I commute from richmond to vancouver everyday on my Ruck for work we can cruise after work or something!

LP700-4 09-12-2011 02:49 PM

How is it going on Oak st bridge? Any trouble reaching the limit?

bcrdukes 09-12-2011 07:39 PM

Most 49cc scooterists take Oak as opposed to Knight because the speed limit on the Oak St. Bridge is I believe 60km/h whereas on Knight, it's 80km/h.

1mcoupe 09-12-2011 08:10 PM

sent the honda centre and carter motorsports an email regarding stk.
carter motorsports is sold out of both 2009 models and 2011..
honda centre has yet to get back to be regarding their stk.

does anybody know where i can pick one of these babies up brand new?

bcrdukes 09-12-2011 08:22 PM

The only other Honda dealership that may have it is Holeshot Motorsports in Langley and Big Top Motorsports in Chiliwack.

!Tigger 09-12-2011 11:09 PM

Please stay off Oak or I'll run you over! :)

Seriously, when traffic is moving well even the slow lane is going 80 kmph, scooters always seem to hold up traffic.

jaemc 09-13-2011 09:45 AM

^ sorry sir I gotta take Oak to get to work :) Hopefully I won't get in your way. Usually in the morning people are going around 50-60km on Oak anways I just flow along with traffic. If u spot me or if I get in the way just honk :D

bcrdukes 09-13-2011 09:54 AM

taylor192 is just jealous he doesn't have the power to slow traffic down. :D

SaviorSelf_666 09-13-2011 09:58 AM

I might sell mine since I never have time to ride it since I ride my R6 way more now.

Culverin 09-13-2011 11:07 AM

And knight street is flowing much faster than 80km/h when it gets going.
Just to let you know, somebody on the Aprilia forums did a engine swap into the ruckus body. I think the dropped in a 70cc kit too.

I'd love to take that thing for a rip.

Just as a reference, my 50cc SR50 can pull 90km/h :fullofwin:

jaemc 09-13-2011 11:10 AM

^ Got any aftermarket parts on ur ruck u'll part out by any chance?

bcrdukes 09-14-2011 12:21 PM

There's a Honda Ruckus for sale in North Van if anybody is interested. Price is fair and the owner seems to have taken care of it quite well.

If you were to buy used, I suggest 06+ as the rev limiter was raised a fair bit.
Top speed went from 37mph to a whopping 40!
