| Dell Mini 10v - no internet
The computer says I'm "connected" but I can't access any websites on the dell mini10v.
Any thoughts?
I've tried to system restore but it always comes back as "unsuccessful" even if I tried all different dates.
I recently used spybot and it made some registry changes, could that have affected the computer? I've now reversed all the changes spbyot made but nothing has changed.
Thanks!

Okay, fact of the matter is if you're getting a ping reply from 4.2.2.2, that means you are connected to the Internet.
If you're connected to the Internet, that means you're not having a problem with your hardware.
If you can't access any websites, there could be a few reasons.
First, check to see if DNS working properly.
Again in command prompt, can you do "ping www.google.com"?
If it doesn't work, there's a problem with your DNS settings. Do an "ipconfig /all" and paste it here.
If it did work, it could be a browser problem. Maybe it has a non-working proxy configured, or malware has hijacked it.
Try a different browser if possible.

I'm using chrome and it says proxy settings are based on my computers settings.
IE doesn't even launch.
Thanks!

If you are using Windows 7, there should be 5-7 bars on the bottom left hand corner right? Is it white?

My co-worker's IBM laptop is doing the same thing. We can't figure it out.

Doesn't work. He can only ping himself.
Took the HDD out and swapped it onto a known, working laptop.
Same deal. At this point I don't think it's hardware related. We tried plugging it into the LAN - still no data payload. Ping fails other than on his own IP and 127.0.0.0.

Can't try until tomrorow but I'm pretty sure he ping'd 8.8.8.8 and it failed.
We've tried plugging in a Cat5 cable into the ethernet port at home, at work, and at difference offices. No go.
Tried a PCMCIA data card from Telus, Bell, Fido, Rogers - no go.
Tried a USB data stick from Telus, Bell, Fido, Rogers, Wing - no go.
I don't know what to do.
ipconfig /renew'd like no tomorrow. DNS Flush. The whole 9 yards. There simply is no payload.
Give up. Gonna throw this laptop from the roof of our office.

If it's WinXP or Win2k try reinstalling the TCP/IP portion under the network properties. http://www.onlinecomputertips.com/ne...all_tcpip.html |

Give us output of ipconfig /all
I want you to try pinging the default gateway, not 8.8.8.8
