This one made mostly to play around with things to see how they turn out
Quick question: what's the best way to fix white balance? I've tried using "quick colour correction" in Premiere... but I can't really get it right...

I don't own one but I've used a couple different ones before. Honestly, for video shoots they're pretty pointless. They're great for adding motion to timelapse videos and can come in handy as a makeshift mini-crane, but otherwise you're better off simply hand pushing your camera on the track.
The Motorroid? If so, it's a very lightweight unit. Only 6lb's carrying weight and the slowest speed it'll do is the full track in just over 5 minutes. For decent timelapse shoots, at least for night time shoots, that's not slow enough. I'm sure you can adjust the gearing inside the unit, but that's probably a bigger hassle than it's worth.
I'm a huge fan of Cinevate's sliders. However, you're looking at a minimum of $1500 for a decent motorized kit through them.

What about using an egg timer mounted at the end of the slider with some string wrapped around it tied to the camera?
I have a homemade motor made from a bbq rotisserie motor with a slower gearing (from some RC parts) - You just need to tie a string to it and it will pull the camera slowly along the track.
This kid has some pretty cool stuff actually. I'm sure some of you guys probably already knew this - but it was quite interesting to me! 26 minutes of moving your tripod for 5 seconds of footage though....

So I've got a project coming up...want to grab a slider for movement. Is there a good rental place around? I don't think I'll need one for long and I don't want to buy one now...still researching which one I want for time lapse.
I've rented a bunch of equipment from them in the past and the guy that runs it is super chill. He even opened up shop one Sunday evening to help me out of a jam, and that was with only a half hour notice.
Not exactly cinematography, but it was the first time I used the video mode on my D600. Shot with a 70-200 f2.8 VRII. Mostly shot at 135mm or longer, handheld. The VRII did a great job. Its the only lens I have that has some sort of VR, as all my other lenses are primes.
