i drove from reno to vegas, go through hawthorne (biggest ammunition storage in the USA). I would take a detour and go to area 51. Aside from that, lots of straight boring desert road...

I did this with a few buddies once, although other than stopping for bathroom breaks and food we kept driving till we got there. Took around 20 hours or so and the minivan we rented got pretty beat up from rocks and just doing stupid shit in it...We went through idaho and all that on the way there and then back up through LA and san fran on the way home. I don't know if you plan on stopping to sleep or not but if you dont expect to be pretty drained by the time you reach vegas.

Yes.

No.

Watch out for those damn racoons between san fran and LA. I obliterated one at 140KM, and killed my radiator fan and bumper. ICBC believed my story because I kept the bumper in my car... Also the fact it had racoon hair and racoon meat embedded into the bumper.
