It's definitely a good idea for us to utilize the point more often and get some traffic in front of the net.

I was guilty of being in Mini's one-timer lane a few times. I got one of his intended passes by accident too.
Anyways, it was definitely fun playing last night as well. Did you guys play anymore playoff games yesterday?

I am a pass first player. So like I tell mini, get open and you'll get the puck. But I love jmac in RD because he supports me in the offensive zone. Once i hand him the puck, the D follows him and I get open to do all these creative passes.
We ended up playing the same team 3 times. I think they were pissed. WE beat them twice and in one game, we dominated the first period outshooting them 20-0
Maybe a playoff game tonight?

Man I want to play so bad. Shoulda brought my ps3 here. The wifi/internet in my hotel sucks though so it might be laggy but oh well. Maybe next time? Quote:

RD is supposed to be right-handed and LD is supposed to be left-handed.
Advantages to off-hand on defense:
- One-timers
Disadvantages to off-hand on defense:
- More difficult to protect puck
- More difficult to keep puck in the zone
- Easier for opponents to pick off/deflect passes down the boards to wingers
- Worse angle for ringing puck around the boards
- More likely to clear puck over glass/boards when clearing puck out of the defensive zone
The one advantage of playing off-hand is pretty much negated by good communication, anyways. When we're setup in the offensive zone, especially on the powerplay, it's really easy for the defensemen to switch positions to set up for one-timers from the point.

While holding the L2 button (vision control), hold the right analog stick in the up position (shoot position).
Doing so will cause your player to shoot the puck as soon as he receives the pass. There is no need for pulling the the analog stick down then pushing up to shoot while timing the receipt of the pass.
I always thought that the latter was the case but the former makes doing a one-timer a lot easier.
So when I'm on the rush, I usually hold down my vision control and up on the right analog in anticipation of a pass across the slot.

^ thanks.. didn't know about that lol.. I was also pulling the analog stick down then up when tryin one timers... gotta try that out later...
my first time doing eashl so i'm not too familiar with this (tricks, leveling up, etc) :P

some advice...
It is OK for players in the offensive zone to take a second or two to observe the options they have before making a play. Often, I see players not noticing the amount of time they have before making a play and causes a turnover. Take that extra second in the O to see which of your teammates are available. I have been learning to do this the past few days and it has worked magic.. just ask Mini.Kangaroo =P
Neutral Zone - Never pass unless you think the pass is 90% reachable to your teammate. Often times, neutral zone turnovers leads to goals against. If you have no options, dump it in. Let the opponents work their way up.
Defense - SUPPORT! Always support your D. In the past few games, I have been going near the slot area and the boards to support jmac when he is beneath the goal line jostling for the puck. Give your D's an option so you can go for a breakout. Never have 3 forwards go on a breakout without anyone in the middle to support the D

In the above scenario, my preference is usually to pass up the near boards to the near side winger; then, second, is to the defence on the other side of the net behind the net; third, to ring it around the boards to the far side winger; and last choice is to the C in the slot.
Note that all five players are still in the D zone and are not breaking out yet. I've played D and there has been a few times where I'm left with few passing choices because everyone has already left the zone and I'm under a bunch of pressure from opposing forecheckers. That situation actually led to a turnover and a goal against. =(.

Because of how EASHL makes you spread points, the C is usually the worst defensive player on the team (not to mention it's usually Skead, who cheats out of the zone. haha).
A better way to do it, IMO, is have the Dman guard the close part of the net, C guard between the circles, and far winger move down to cover the far side of the net and be ready for a pass behind the net.
Dmen are, by far, the best at deflecting and intercepting passes, so anytime we can have a Dman in front of the crease, we should.
This is what I'd like to see for EASHL:
Basic formation:
Wingers cover high slot, Center covers mid slot, Dmen cover crease 
Puck at points:
Strong side winger pressures puck carrier, everyone else holds formation  
Puck on side-boards:
Strong side winger pressures puck carrier, strong side dman moves down to take away pass down low, weak side dman covers strong side of the crease, C covers weak side of the crease, weak side winger covers slot.  
Puck in corners:
Strong side dman pressures puck carrier, strong side wingers takes away pass to point, weak side dman covers strong side of crease, C covers weak side of crease, weak side winger covers slot  
Puck behind the net:
Dmen move to goal line beside the crease, C covers front of crease, wingers cover passes to side boards/point  | |

That 9pt game by mini was crazy.(5goals 4 assist) haha.. i think i had 4 fights during that game lol.. lost them all haha..
that game where we lost 1-9 was pretty bad.. those guys were fast lol..i don't even know how they can get that quick..

It makes it a little better that we'd won.
Some really awesome passes from Yat to Mini last night too and great work from the D to keep the pressure on.
