Eyes red after removing contacts So I get this problem where my eyes can get quite itchy and red after removing contacts...i'd say this happens maybe 2/3 of the time. The itchiness lasts a good 5-10 minutes and the redness stays for maybe an hour. Usually only happens to one eye and the other eye is okay. This isn't a problem when i first put in my contacts...but it does get sore after few hours of wear..but not as bad as when I remove them. Any idea what's causing this? |
your eyes might be dry when you're taking off the contacts. make sure your eye is lubricated cuz you might risk damaging your cornea. Sometimes i yawn before i take mine off, or if you have those lens drops, even better. |
Seems like your eyes are dry when your contacts are off, your cornea is the first thing that contacts with air, if you had your contacts on for a long period of time, your eyes might have adapted to being covered with a contact so it isnt the first thing that contacts with air, just try to moisten it, yawn while taking it off helped me alot ! |
its because your eyes are dried, this is a really common problem just try yawning while taking it off |
wash your hands 100% before touching your eyes... |

Try Systane, best OTC eye lubrication drops recommended by most ophthalmologists. I can hook u up with a sample if u really need though. |
wash your hands before you remove your contacts also, put a few drops of you contact solution into your eye before you remove your contacts this should do the trick |
gf had this problem, just recently switched to clean clear solution. Eyes no longer turn red and no more drops needed. gotta leave it in the solution for at least 4 hours tho or else it will burn your eyes out. Clear Care :: For Fresh, Clean and More Comfortable Contact Lenses |
i need me some good eye dropss they always reddddddddd |
yeah I have had the clean care suggested to me before...apparently I will need a special container for the lenses..will look into it as i get more contacts next month. |
I dip my fingers in the contact solution too before I take my contacts out. This seems to work for me to reduce irritation. |

worse case, if you don't wear contacts all the time is to switch to daily disposables |
