| Paint Job in the States
So I'm heading down to the states really soon, and was thinking of taking advantage of the strong dollar and getting a paint job. I was just wondering if anyone has any good experiences down there or anyone that they can recommend from first hand experience. I have a silver 01 Jetta GLS, lots of scratches and dents from the previous owner, and I'm thinking of changing it to a matte finish. TIA!!

If/when you need warranty and/or a quick fix, who will locally support?
Any way, just my $0.02. Others may beg to differ.

If you wanna do a matte finish you're better off using vinyl. Posted via RS Mobile |

+1 for vinyl wrap.
painted matte finish (at least one thats halfway decent) is a PITA to maintain. any poor prep work will show, and you can't wax or touch-up any flaw in the finish. At least with a wrap, you can remove it when you get tired of it or it is out of style (it would probably be cheaper overall too).

So where does vinyl wrap, and do they take care of all the scratches/dents? Sorry I'm new to this whole thing!

^ MM design does to matte vinyl wraps, they've just got quite a handful of not so tastefully wrapped cars imo that gives them that reputation.
You could also check out SR Auto, maybe even canawrap but i'm not sure they do Matte vinyls...

If you perform modifications that improve the overall condition of your vehicle in a foreign country you will be taxed the full value of the vehicle when re-entering Canada, check out Canada Customs website. Posted via RS Mobile |

i am pretty sure the cutoms are not going to know....
as far as ive heard, the US custom and Canadian custom dont share information, so the photo of your car that enters US stays with the US and canadian cutoms wont have that picture as reference when you are coming back...
i know numerous people who went to states to pick up a set of rims.. and threw away their steelies... lol just my 0.02, dun quote me =P
