If a friend buys a new miata, and if me and 3 different friends can pick it up and move it around to troll the hell out of the owner, I'll call this a success.

In this month's Modified Mag they have a little blurb about the British Touring Car version of the MX5 that weighs around the 1800lb mark. It took a lot of cutting, carbon fiber, and lexan to get there though. After reading that, I can't see them releasing anything close to street legal and less than 2000lbs.

I hope I eat my words though. A sub 2000 lb anything would be a blast.

You have seen the light! Most people I know believe that the Miata is a girls car but they also seem to view driving as a utilitarian chore. The rest would be converted with a test drive.

If I can find it again, there was a thread about a guy who got his latest gen MX5 down to 2000 lbs.

My 96 weighs in at just over 2200lbs with a roll bar and hard top and 230whp. Under 2000lbs and anything over 180whp would be unreal for a production car.
