I'm surprised at how short the term is.

I think that might have been the sticking point, TB wanted a longer term, Stamkos/his agent didn't, the 5 year term takes hiim right to UFA. Also being only 21, he'll only be 26 when contract is up and if cap keeps going up/NHL revenues keep improving, a $7.5 cap hit, he might be underpaid if he signs long term.

Pretty good deal for both parties. When stamkos finishes his contract he'll be commanding some long paper.

Now we wait for Doughty, Weber and Hansen signings
