It doesn't matter how, he's pretty much useless.

I bet Lu would go to Tampa in a heartbeat. Probably Toronto too

He's not useless and I still rank him as one of the most sought after goalies league-wide. The problem really lies with Schneider; and how he's shocked everyone with how he's developed.

Whether or not you're happy with Luongo's current play, this wouldn't be a goaltending controversy in 80% of the league's clubs. It just is a controversy here because of what kind of goalie Schneider turned out to be; which I suspect a lot of people thought he would be good, but not THIS good.

Anyways, on a personal level, I really feel bad for Luongo; but on an objective level, it's clear as day that he doesn't have the same athleticism or agility that he possessed over 5 o 6 years ago whereas Schneider not only has his, but will be retaining it for a few more years.

However, I think in this environment, politics will win and the management will side with Luongo because anything other than that will reflect poorly on Mike Gillis' $64M managerial decision.

Well Henrik's no Linden, that's for sure.
I don't really mind Henrik all that much. It's Kesler who's been completely disappointing for me.
No clutch from this guy, and he's just been having a underachieving season altogether.

I like Schneider better than Luongo. But still, I think with all the issues that lie here with the Canucks,
I would still rather work on getting some players that have grit, can play with intensity,
and I'm not talking about just a "goon" player that just comes out for a shift to fight.

When your top players are getting pushed around like rag dolls in the playoffs, it's really not cutting it.
And I think this issue needs to be addressed, rather than the goaltending "issue".

Closer to his in-laws.

Who could we get from Tampa? Lecav?

nah 04-15-2012 11:32 PM

One thing's for sure, I bet Pittsburgh would love to have Luongo instead of Fleury right now.

cliffhanger33 04-15-2012 11:34 PM

Man if only we can push this series to a game 7 and win.....................

one can only dream

Kesler worked out all of the previous years's off season; I remember where he was doing something crazy like 100 wristshots per day at home(and they were showcasing his little gizmo that automated feeding those pucks to him).

This year because of the injury, he had absolutely no conditioning going into this season.

VooDood 04-15-2012 11:53 PM

brett conolly:heckno:? i rather keep our goalie!

kristianhay 04-15-2012 11:56 PM

Chances are we can't move Lu (nor do I really want to, don't know why it's being brought up), just being realistic at what we might fetch. I've played against Connolly quite a few times, he's going to be good.

invader 04-15-2012 11:57 PM

Has there been a presidents trophy winner swept in the 1st round in NHL history?

spoon.ek9 04-16-2012 12:03 AM

^ according to TSN, no. BUT the Canucks have this habit of being streak busters in the worst way so I don't even want to think about it.

Chicago (90-91), St Louis (1999-2000), Detroit (05-06), San Jose (08-09), and Washington (09-10); none were sweeps.

skyxx 04-16-2012 12:03 AM

Washington, San Jose, Detroit, St Lous.

Edit: Damn, beat me to it.

DanHibiki 04-16-2012 12:08 AM

Can I sleep for 1 year and wake up for the playoffs?

lol, Schneider let in less goals. So by default... :troll:

Oleophobic 04-16-2012 12:09 AM

I believe 5 presidents' trophy winners have lost in the first round before, though none lost in fewer than 6 games.
