Me I'll be cheering for the Flyers and the Kings if the Kings win this series

Bonka 04-16-2012 01:24 AM

The Canucks have scored 12 goals in the last 10 playoff games. So unless someone out there thinks they can string continuous straight shutouts to enable Canuck victories...and even if they score, they can't pull away from teams with 2+ goal leads.

Wow. Just wow.

Go Flyers :troll:

:alone:

It's actually happened a lot in the last decade or two with the Avs, Red Wings, Ducks, Hawks, Bruins and...I want to say Stars.

Also Calgary when they went to the Final but were robbed on the Martin Gelinas no goal.

cliffhanger33 04-16-2012 01:26 AM

Im probz going to be cheering for flyers

SkinnyPupp 04-16-2012 01:27 AM

I think so.

Not saying Lu sucks but I think Schneider is the tighter goalie at the moment. The thing is, a lot of people are saying no goalie would've survived with the way the team played on games 1 and 2 but I think there's a possibility it might be different.

I know of some goalies who do like being peppered and feel they play better under continuous pressure rather sporadically within the game. I think Schneider is one such goalie and I think perhaps LA monoplizing majority of the game in 1 and 2 may have played well into Schneider's hands; but that's just conjecture.

Maybe Jonathan Quick is one too. When you pepper them with shots, they get into such a rythm that it benefits them in the event they need to make harder saves within the game. Could explain why he's performing like a wall despite having around 40 shots directed at him (and no, we shouldn't exaggerate, that they're all perimeter unchallenging shots). Canucks were causing a lot of pileups and scrums infront of his crease yet he's still managing to track the puck from initial scoring chance to secondary, tertiary or more.

I'd also bet to say that although Luongo was this type of goalie before; but at this point there's no denying that he isn't as agile and as athletic a goalie he once used to be and is nowadays relying on positioning (staying deeper in the net, or cheating deeper) and size to remain somewhat dominant.

Vansterdam 04-16-2012 06:11 AM

its not our goalies that are causing us to lose

we cant score for shit

Vansterdam 04-16-2012 06:15 AM

anyone know where i can stream the full pittsburg vs philly game from yesterday

7seven 04-16-2012 06:55 AM

I've been rooting for the Flyers and Canucks since my Sabres didn't make the playoffs, but if the Canucks are out, I'll be hoping for a Flyers vs Predators final while rocking my Giroux jersey.

I think Gillis and the Canucks got too caught up on trying to emulate the big bad Bruins. Yes, size/toughness was one of the factors the Bruins beat the Canucks last season, but a bigger issue I think was the Canucks lack of scoring which has crept up again. Everyone loves just to blame Lu for the finals last year, but seems to forget our powerplay disappeared in that series and so did our scoring with injuries catching up to Kesler, Ehrhoff, Hamhuis and Burrows. Even with the Canucks being handled physically by the Bruins last playoffs, they still came so close within a game from the Cup.

All year I haven't been as confident in this years version of the Canucks as I was last year and the trade for Kassian still has me scratching my head, oh don't get me wrong, I'm loving that trade as a Sabres fan, but I wasn't expecting the Sabres to do much this year and thought Hodgson was in a position to help the Canucks more than Kassian this post season. Kassian still can turn out to be a good player, but having watched him closely with the Sabres, he was nowhere near ready and the Canucks already had a version of what Kassian is right now in Bitz. I agreed the Canucks needed more size and grit, but was shocked when Cody was traded for someone who likely wouldn't be ready to make an impact for 2-4 years at least.

The Canucks did play a lot better in game 3 but they got to get more quality scoring chances, too many shots from the perimeter and no finish for these guys right now. The D coverage has been atrocious, especially Edler, when did Brent Sopel take over Edler's body??? Doesn't matter if you have Lu or Schneider back there when they're getting no support in front of them, both goalies have played great, but if the Canucks can't pull off a miracle, Gillis has to move one of them for an asset that can help them out right away, not a project like Kass.

So much excitement for the playoffs gone.

lol @ everyone with their armchair GM theories. Blow up the team, get rid of Luongo and AV.. MG's track record being questioned... I wish people wouldn't get their theories from CDC and the morons calling 1040 then report back here.

Great68 04-16-2012 07:13 AM

Hahaha my boss wore an Ottawa jersey to work today

Blah_Teggie 04-16-2012 07:33 AM

The only Canucks that I would keep are Schnieds, Hansen, Sedins, Burrows, Hammer and Higgins. But unfortunately, those are probably the only players who are worth something right now. All the others can leave.

SkinnyPupp 04-16-2012 07:38 AM

Here's another one - once the Burke/Nonis core is gone, do you trust MG to build a new core?

Hondaracer 04-16-2012 07:42 AM

MG is a better GM than both of them IMO and that's looking at it with an objective pov IMO

Burke is nothing anymore and nonis neve was

411ken 04-16-2012 07:49 AM

In Gillis We Trust..

He looked PISSED last night when Edler took that Delay of game penalty with 1.5 minutes to go lol..

Not really racist! 04-16-2012 07:53 AM

Looks like we've all cooled down, guess I missed the team 1040 lulz

anybody got audio?

Pooface55 04-16-2012 07:56 AM

I'm not grumpy cause I'm in a playoff pool where pretty much all the other teams loaded up on Canucks except me, so unless a miracle happens, I think I got the pool locked down after round 1 haha.

Great68 04-16-2012 08:47 AM

Looks like EA sports' prediction is on track to be horribly wrong this year.

Me too I only got 2 canucks on my team. I actually have more LA players.
