well said MG1, well said

SkinnyPupp 04-18-2012 07:31 AM

So if Gragnani scored 7 points in 7 games during last year's playoffs for the Sabres, why isn't he playing now? :suspicious:

cliffhanger33 04-18-2012 08:08 AM

Very honest post, MG1

I'm sure lots of us feel that way too but don't say it because Canucks are our home team.

I'll cheer for them regardless of anything, but I really do understand why we are so hated

It'll look like a huge defensive shitstorm, that's what it'll look like.

For those of us who grew up during the '94 run, MG1's post nails it.

Hindsight is 20/20, but that Canucks team deserved to win the cup. Bure was a bit of a primadonna, but at least he could defend himself - he got the last of Joel Otto in Round 1 and he took out Shane Churla. Trevor scored 2 goals in Game 7 of the final, despite being slammed into the boards by Messier in Game 6. Ronning played with a broken hand. Sergio Momesso was 10 times the player that Kassian, Bitz, (insert plug here) will ever be. If you think Burrows is clutch, Adams and Geoff Courtnall were clutch and they could defend themselves. And the reason why I said that Pat Quinn is the best coach in team history because under his watch, the team tore up the old Smythe division (with Calgary and LA) and they came back from a 3-1 deficit and nearly came back from another in '94.

You definitely do not want MAG out there, he'll create more scoring opportunities for the other team than create for his own.

signed,

Sabres fan

If anything dress him as a 7th D and only use him on the PP, go with 11 fwds, tho even last playoffs while on the powerplay for Sabres, he did give the puck over a number of times for shorthanded odd man rushes for Philly

We'll see what happens tonight...
Joined the bandwagon in '94 playoffs, haven't jumped off since, no matter what.

It's a shame I was a bit young and was just getting to into hockey as a sport,
and don't fully remember too much about the Playoff run back then.
I do remember most of the events though, as I remembered cutting out newspaper articles of the games
and plastering them all over my wall as if they were posters.
And I had that team poster with the printed-on autographs of each player,
so I got to identify and remember each player well. Bure was easily my favourite player.

Last season was as close as we got to that again... but once again, failed to get the grand prize :okay:

I don't know how much more of this can I take.
Sometimes, I wonder am I still a fan this long, just because I'm waiting to experience what I wasn't able to in '94.
What happens when Canucks finally do win the cup after all these years...??? Is "my goal" accomplished and I can finally be at rest?

Maybe this is just a dream that's meant to never come true :heckno:

edit: ohh, I found a tiny pic of the poster online

Completely way out there, but I dreamed last night that we won game 4 15-14 in OT.

WTF.............

We were down two goals at the end of 3rd, caught up, forced OT and won :fulloffuck:

I'm also in the generation that was able to witness the 94 cup run.

By far it's the most memorable. You had big Irish as head coach - great coach - one of the best in Canucks history. The entire rooster was full of skilled character guys. From Linden, Bure, McClean, Courtnall, Adams, Lumme, Babyck, Memesso, Odjuck.

How we came back from a 3-1 deficit speaks volumes to the team we had then.

Fast forward to 2012. We have a skilled team probably one of the best in franchise history just the heart, character, intensity and urgency that's needed to win playoff series is simply not there.

One more game to go though so Go Canucks Go!

Any news about whether Daniel can play game 4? No @VanCanucks tweets so far about his health status.

I had that poster. I think Jeff Brown's head was PS'd in.

hahaha this was good. Favourites are "Dead to Me" and "Utilizing Your Teammates"

MG1 04-18-2012 10:09 AM

^^^^That poster is laminated and is one of my most precious of Canuck memorabilia.

What a team that was. Jim Robson, the voice of the Canucks...........

I hate you for all of eternity, Messier....... and Keenan, of course. That 94 team should have won the cup. They, of any team, should have won it. Every time I see the "Heart and Soul" poster of Linden hugging McLean, I weep. Perhaps that's why I don't have it in my collection.

I have in my shrine at work all the Canucks playoff towels, team photos, from previous years. This year, I have not been to any open practices - no calendar, posters, haven't joined the Canucks fan club, etc. I suppose I should get a playoff towel for this year at least, so I can have all the years represented........ pretty sad.

I think what really killed my enthusiasm was watching one of the Sedins being continually punched in the head in last year's playoffs and nothing being done about it. Just one of the many disappointments.

Gord Miller @GMillerTSN: With 5 points in the series, Jaromir Jagr has moved from 13th to 9th on the career playoff pt. list, past Yzerman, Trottier and Lidstrom.

From Farhan's twitter - Schneider taking first goalie warmup. Usually a sign of starter?

and its optional skate

There's no way that the Canucks are going to reveal that until the start of the game. Why give your opponent information that would allow them to prepare for it?
