One thing that drives me crazy as a fan is that fucking "THEY SLAYED THE DRAGON" call... they haven't slayed fucking SHIT until they win the cup. What they did was barely get by and not completely fuck up and blow a 3-0 series lead, with a soft overtime goal. FUCK it drives me crazy that they keep playing it... It is just embarrassing, and perfect fodder for Canucks haters

DanHibiki 04-22-2012 09:54 PM

Ya this is so pointless. Close one of the threads please.

mb_ 04-22-2012 09:55 PM

Well, considering that they got their asses handed to them by Chicago for 2 straight years in the playoffs I don't think it's too exaggerated when Shorty made that call. Playing a team you failed to beat for 2 straight years (and could have been 3 possibly) has a pretty big psychological effect on you and it showed when they almost blew a 3-0 series lead.

Anyone have any solid arguments as to why we would be better off keeping Luongo instead of Schneider if we were able to ship him out? Not trying to start anything just curious to hear Lu fans side of the story. I suppose Schneider is unproven playing the majority of a regular season, but other than that I don't see anything else. Luongo is good but he won't get better at this point, and most likely he'll get worse year after year from this point on given his age.

hate that comparison

how can you compare price (a young goalie that had 2 good seasons) with luongo (a 30 some yr old perennial top goaltender)??

civicyvr 04-22-2012 10:10 PM

Well, painful to say it's over this year. The boys just felt out of sync since the latter part of the season.

It will be an interesting off season to see what changes will be made if any.

It really comes down to
If Luongo doesn't leave, than the Canucks are OBLIGATED to move Schneider

Mike Oxbig 04-22-2012 10:14 PM

:considered:Cause schneider has similar value to halak which fetch them eller
Luongo, a experienced goalie with gold medal to back up his resume can fetch ryan malone who has a ring?

Yeah but it would really surprise the shit out of me if the Canucks organization ask if he's willing to be moved and Luongo just says no...Like do you really want to be in a place you're not wanted and deal with even more resentment from fans who clearly aren't in your favour.

That's just my opinion though maybe he doesn't give a shit

cliffhanger33 04-22-2012 10:17 PM

LOl ya i can imagine lu trolling the fans and refusing to be traded

It doesn't really matter what's best for the team. All that matters is whether Luongo wants to stay or not. If he does, they are stuck with two #1 goalies and their salaries.

I wouldn't say obligated to move him, but this is their situation.
They have Lu signed for many years to come.
Schneider is an RFA and there are rumors that other teams may be willing to offer quite a bit of money for him. Sure the team will get compensation but if the team wants to keep Cory, then that means they will have to offer more money.
The team also has a pretty good prospect in Eddie Lack in the minors.

Depending on how negotiations go, it may be hard to convince Cory to take a paycut to hang around longer to be goalie 1B and play 30-40 games.
Same goes with signing Scheider and asking Lu to be 1B and play less than 50 games.

So obligated, no. But they don't have a lot of negotiation room atm.

This lose doesn't hurt much because I had enough time to prepare for the train wreck since March. The red flags for me were already up when the Canucks weren't scoring and goaltending was winning them games during the last month and a half of the regular season. We didn't have the same explosive offense we had last season and it's the same old story....if you don't score goals, you can't win games and series.

And I predict the Canucks will do what it takes to move Ryan K and Lu this summer, Ballard and Raymond are guaranteed to be unloaded. I think AV might get another season behind the bench unless the ownership decides to fire both AV and Gillis which I highly doubt.

cliffhanger33 04-22-2012 10:26 PM

All the playoff advertisements and wallpapers are taken out of the official canucks website already :okay:

Don't think he will say no. He's a competitor and have lot's of pride to pull a douche move like that. He'll most likely have a list for MG though. That's assuming they want him out.

nah 04-22-2012 10:36 PM

The Sedins weren't the problem, not getting secondary scoring was the problem.

Kesler no goals in the last 17 games. All the needs to be said.

mb_ 04-22-2012 10:37 PM

Move Ryan Kesler? :fuckthatshit: :fulloffuck: :seriously:

There's rumors that he's unhappy in Vancouver. We'll see what happens during the summer.
