Gillis also recognizes he's responsible and will be accountible. Decisions won't be made overnight. Need to let things settle. #TSN
I really don't think this year's lack of success should be pinned on AV, maybe a portion but nowhere close to enough to fire him IMO. Gillis deserves as much blame as AV, possibly even more, for his questionable transactions starting with Marco Sturm.
Back to back President's trophy, 1 win away from winning the cup, 5 division titles in 6 years. If the Canucks are struggling 20 games into next season, then I might consider a change.

If you read a couple posts up, Gillis knows he is accountable and responsible as well.
After 6/7 years with the team though, it's not about whether or not AV is a good coach. We all know he's a good coach and he's proven that - but we still don't have a cup. He has been out coached on numerous occasions, this series being one of them. Sometimes change is good, a coach using our players with different systems may be just what we need.
My only real issues with AV are his inability to adapt to other teams' play, his favouritism (a la Aaron Rome), his perpetual dog house (Ballard), and his lack of trust with young players (CoHo) other than Kassian and Tanev.
Speaking of Kassian, it took AV four consecutive playoff games (three losses) to finally figure out the kid isn't ready to make an impact. FOUR WHOLE GAMES. His TOI was as follows: 5:37, 6:00, 3:55, and 3:52.
And for the life of me, I cannot understand why AV started games 1 and 2 with MayRay on the 1st line when the combination of Lappy-Henrik-Burrows was experiencing success at the end of the season. Mason fucking Raymond, really?
I'm not going to start on trading away Coho. It's done, and it was not helpful to us whatsoever this year. It was however, rather ironic to see some people on here rave about how this trade was about winning NOW and how it was necessary to win playoff games. Dually ironic is the fact that more and more people are now admitting the trade was either bad or should have been done in the off-season instead. But I digress, Kassian is a Canuck now and I welcome his speedy development so he can contribute much more to the team.
side note: I know Kassian needs time to develop; which is why he wasn't useful in the playoffs. My point was that others were looking ahead to the playoffs thinking Kassian would somehow tear it up for us despite being a total rookie.
I think Lu playing in Tampa makes the best sense. 50-goal scorer will make up for his occasional softies right?
hahah.. it is sad though. Lu has done so much for us and the most vocal fans just shit on him constantly. If schnu stays, eventually those same people will turn against him too. it's just the fickle fan works. no patience, no support.
Didnt catch the coaches corner. how did Cherry tell Luongo to get out? as in you're too emo get out? or get out for your own sake, you deserve better treatment?

Honestly, Lu might not even get traded at all. I always feel that starting Schneider is going to get hyped up by the media and everyone is thinking is Luongo going to get traded or is he going to ask for a trade?
I wouldn't be surprised that by next season, we are going to have the 1A, 1B goalies in Lu and Schneids.

You're out to lunch here. They cant afford two goalie contacts.
